I’ve been a horror fan for the longest time and have started getting more into horror/ splatterpunk books, and want to know what books others like in the genre.
My favourites so far are The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker and Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite.
I really enjoyed Monstrilo by Gerardo Sámano Córdova
It's a haunting mix between horror, love, and grief. It stuck with me for a long time after reading!
Oooooo this looks really cool, def gonna add this to my TBR
Carrie by Stephen King. It was my first horror read, and my first Stephen King read. I was about 12 years old and I found it really easy to read as someone who was too lazy at the time. I also relate to the story in a way and it's something I'll hold onto forever. Plus watching the movie after reading the book is such a reward!

If you’re fond of cosmic horror, you should totally play Bloodborne.
For Splatterpunk specifically, Edward Lee has some hit or miss stuff. The first two books of City Infernal were intriguing. Basic concept is that hell developed as it's own metropolis alongside the dimension that humanity resides in. Essentially earth, heaven, and hell exist on their own planes of existence and dimensions. A lot of his works get a bit uuuh, SA though
Anything Shirley Jackson !! Haunting of the Hill House is soo good. Also recently read the short story Nine Billion Names of God which is a good cosmic horror
OMG IM A BIGGGGG POPPY Z BRITE FAN. Im reading his LOST SOULS? rn! But, The Necrophiliac is also good. It wayyyy shorter though.
