As a young wannabe femme, I've been having lots of trouble figuring out how I can use my privilege to support butches. It makes me feel undeserving of using the label despite my beliefs and values aligning with butchfemme identities and my deep interest in lesbian history. I know I want to engage in volunteering for local queer organisations, but I haven't found one that doesn't require me to be 18 or older yet. Any advice appreciated!
hey there! have you tried going to the local library and looking for any lesbian feminist literature? idk thats just the first thing that came to mind for me, knowledge is power! <3
@silas yes i recommend reading tooo, understanding the history of the term and the identity itself. Stone Butch Blues is a great start, it's heavy though and has adult content, be warned. you can read it online for free
@silas yess i’ve been reading a lot!! unfortunately though i find that many of the books considered lesbian classics have content warnings for sexual assault which is a very sensitive topic for me and makes me anxious even when it’s only mentioned. i will sure go to my local library soon!!
