effed up clothes sizings!!!

Back to Rants & Vents

am i the only one who has been noticing how standard sizing has been getting smaller and smaller?

last week i was looking for a new bikini for the summer kinda last minute...im usually an XL and not only did most of the cuter styles only go up to an L and had rather small cup sizes, but also those that did have an XL weren't even actual XLs! why does everything fit so tightly?

i got a mini skirt from a brand i usually wear L/XL from but becasue of this exact issue i got an XXL...AND IT DIDNT FIT EITHER!

im so confused, has standard sizing changed or are brands just making stuff up?

also i was just now browsing through bershka website for a super cute shirt i saw on twitter out of curiosity and it only went up to an L that isn't larger chest size friendly..

i do try my best to use vintage and second hand however if i need something right away (ex. the bikini i needed for the following day) how am i supposed to get anything decent that is affordable and that i like if the sizes are all effing weird??

tell me im not hallucinating cause omg im so done!

you're not!! I've been on the bigger size of measurements almost all my teenage years and yes it does get tighter lately, there are skirts that are marketed as plus size friendly but me being and L XL can barely fit in, and i just can think about how hard it must be for people bigger than me, there are a lot of things that can mess with the standardized sizing in stores but in general, inditex (who owns bershka, H&M pull&bear etc) has a reputation of being fat phobic and only selling cute items or items that fit well to smaller sizes, also because of all this super skinny trend among famous people and the people who follow them, they want to force you to fit in their clothes, they don't think about us 🥀

@Marcyvstheworld07 literally! I was talking about this with a friend of mine who’s on the smaller size and even she was saying that sizes S have been getting smaller!

Like u I also think about plus size ppl like what are they supposed to do if even small and medium sized ppl can’t get into clothes nowadays??

the bikini/bra/top thing has been especially cruel lately because tell me why I have to choose between it cutting all circulation to my torso or being the right cup size... every time I try on a bra or a top it laughs at me and tells me to get a boob job :/ I'm well-endowed for my size, too! so sorry I don't have Pamela Anderson bazonkas T~T

youre so right! its crazy how misleading the sizes are nowadays

I think the problem with clothing in general is that they're getting cheaply made and the fabric quality is really shit. I never noticed the sizes getting smaller honestly...

I only heard that sizes in US are bigger than ever. (I'm not from US btw)

Companies also change their categories quite often.

Last week, I went to Primark, which I hate, yet I found a decent shirt that was a L. Even a M would probably fit me. I never thought I would be able to use a L and still feel super loose, but maybe it was the cut.

Now, bottoms are the worst part to work around. I couldn't find a decent pair of trousers bc summer collections are so thin. :S

But back to the sizes, I don't recommend Bershka at all.

Bershka and brands from its parent company, Inditex, all follow a similar company model of cutting costs, being cheap, changing size categorization, and pumping out half baked collections.

Zara, another Inditex company, is basically Shein but slightly more restrained.

Shein is like Zara, but on steroids.

At this point, it would be easier to just get certain clothes from those chinese stores around the corner. 😭
