Gonna be honest, I’ve strayed away from makeup as a whole for a rlly long time- not cause i don’t like it but I just never found myself wanting to use it. But, I’m entering my senior year, and I feel like I might be interested! Only problem is that I have no idea what I’m doing or what to even use.

Help a girl out?

I think my first advice would be to get a feel for what you’re comfortable with! Things like whether having products on your skin or eyes bothers you at all, does having skincare on make you sweat more or does having eyeliner or mascara on irritate your eyes! It’s the one thing i base my makeup on every time! The products i buy and what i do each time is how well my face handles it in terms of comfort! Look for products that FEEL the best for you not just look.

And second is practice! I HATE trying something new right when ive got somewhere to go bc i often mess it up lol so i always practice smth before doing it on a regular going somewhere. Pick an evening and test some stuff out, have fun and learn what you like and dont.

For brands i personally use mostly nyx, maybelline or just random drugstore stuff. It takes a while to decide what works best for your face yk a little trial and error.

Best of luck to you and i hope this was helpful!

always have a summer and winter shade of foundation

i used to be like this as well! what helped me the most was practicing and watching tutorials on yt, find what you feel  comfortable in and HAVE FUN!, make up is very broad its not just about making you look pretty its science, culture and art, i suggest going to ANY drugstore and look for things that are beginner friendly like instead of foundation start with a skin tint or bb cream , some foundations can feel heavy on the skin and it might feel cakey as a first timer (been there before T T) try out blushes for a pop of color and explore with diff kinds of colors so you'll know what suits you the most, i recomend trying to find your undertone, there are tutorials online that you can follow, knowing your undertone helps with picking what colors will suit you better (its such a game changer!), and with eye makeup, start small like a little shadow to warm up your face! or a little wing using black eyeshadow, i recommend you to start with eyeshadows as eyeliner before doing the liquid ones THEY ARE A MESS, i remember my first time and it was so messy LMFAO, and alsoo since you're just starting out, don't buy EXPENSIVE products, expensive doesn't mean its gonna be good TRUST ME, thats all for noww! HAHA if you have questions message mee ill try to be helpful

they say only take makeup tips from your race but I'm not sure if it really works

use color correctors they’re such a life saver

i was kinda the same way, i started wearing makeup at 19 and prefer minimal products possible lol
( watch tutorials, they help a ton!! + use smth like pinterest for inspo :D )

heres what i use:
- elf glossy lip stain
- lipliner / covergirl outlast tint pen
- any clear lip gloss
- eyelash curler
- black nyx epic liner
- any brown/black/clear mascara (most of mine r maybelline)
- eyeshadow pallete (make sure theres a good light/dark and a few colors you like!!)

I built my makeup routine slowly but surely! Start with what youre excited about (for me as a little emo, this was eyeshadow and eyeliner). Then I got into lip stuff, blush, eyebrows, concealer, then contour and foundation over the years! Find stuff that inspires you, smash tutorials together to make something that you love!

It'll take time but you'll figure it out!

I personally use almost all Elf products, I love their stuff. Some of the tried and true stuff (I have a born this way concealer I've grown to love) is actually really good, but you dont have to splurge to have a great look (I used the elf camo concealer prior).

You can also use a bunch of products in different ways. I use an eyeshadow palette for my contour. I used to use old eyeliners that were a little too dry for my liking as black lip liners.

Buy stuff you know you are going to use and that is for your skin. Don't buy things just because they're cheap or trendy, think about what you're buying. You can search on TikTok, Pinterest and more for recommendations for makeup products for your skin and what's good to use.

When trying out eyeshadow put it on your knuckles as it is kind of similar, then you will see if it's good. Use your neck to see if the concealer, foundation and more is your shade as it will then look more blended in with the rest of your body.

Also I would look at makeup tiktokers that have kind of similar makeup look as you want or the same skin type as you, so it is easier to get ideas on what you want to do or get recommendations on products.

My fav tiktokers are:

Swancullens(Because of their colourful looks)

Trevorbarrett(Has really good tips and easy to understand)

Linsmakeuplooks(Has really fun and good tips)

Hope this helps!!!
