I hear ya. Me? I just find lemon tea more flavorful. The sugar (or honey) and strong tea (a must) makes for a great combo!

I am surprised that sweet tea has so many votes! I'm from the North. A cup of tea here is either with lemon or plain, both with a sweetener. Unlike sweet tea, which isn't normally steeped for a strong taste here, the lemon tea is normally made with decent strength.

see thats the problem, im born n raised southern n if my sweet tea isnt making make me feel like my teeth are gonna fall out it isnt sweet enough, i dont know how any1 can drink tea without some suger imo it jst tastes like brown water (like evry unsweetened tea ive had taste like water)
The lemon tea here has sugar or other sweetener. The sweet tea, conversely, is extremely weak and has little actual sweetness. I suspect that what I refer to as "lemon tea" is what you (and others) are referring to as "sweet tea," and the sweet tea here is just heavily diluted (and utterly tasteless) regular tea. Believe me, there is nothing sweet about it. Curiously, I had a relative who hailed from the South but lived in NY for several decades. When they made sweet tea, it was of the tasteless variety that's common up here. When we tasted it, all of us (from the North) basically asked: "Where's the tea?"

Sweet tea. This here's the south, so there should be more sugar than water in that perspiring glass.
Ah, maybe that's the difference. The sweet tea I get up here is normally pale, weak, and barely sweetened. It's basically brown, flavorless water. Another difference is that I was raised with a heavy British influence. Mom was from a then-current colony, and her social sphere was 100% British or of strong British influence. A proper cup of tea was never steeped. No, it was brewed. And I mean brewed for a good, long time. When finished, the brewed tea could've probably stripped paint. Milk, not lemon or other flavorings, was then added, and the tea was then sweetened to taste, if at all. That worked for them. For me and my more continental tastes, it was similarly strong tea with sweetener, and lemon or milk added. Preferably lemon.
