Good Characters Bad Plot or Good Plot Bad Characters?

Would you excuse unsalvageable plot holes if the characters are lovable, or would you excuse horribly-written characters if the plot is intriguing? 

This is a question I've been thinking about for a while, and I wanted to see what other people's perspectives are on it. I understand it's an extreme and rather vague scenario, but it's fun to think about :P

Because, personally, I can't tolerate poorly written characters even if the plot was the most creative, genius, mind-blowing piece of writing ever. I just can't. I find it hard to love the story or get invested, even when I can appreciate the world-building and effort put into the story.

Obviously in an ideal scenario a story would have both good characters and a good plot, but in the event that one of those elements were missing, which one could you let go of? 

For me I prefer Good characters with bad plot. If I find characters appealing and interesting, I dont really mind the bad plot, since the characters made it enjoyable :D If plot is good but characters bad... I just cant enjoy the story if I find the character annoying or just anything really.

Good characters bad plot in my opinion. It could be the most awful plot of all time but a good character can make it way more bearable.

good characters with a bad plot is definitely easier to get through, tho I can go the other way if the plot is really good or makes me the right kinda interested and the characters aren't unbearable

Definetly good characters, in my opinion characters make or break the plot. With reading its nearly impossible to know what the story is about if the character is badly written, or atleast for me.... The characters ARE the plot.
