man it sucks these days being a fan of something because someone might come around and make you feel bad for enjoying it but i might as well do that to others so id get a strange sense of righteous with me and the world the world being this platform and me being this online alias that ive created

this forum is for any popular or unpopular hot take that u feel like sharing such as good game is bad or bad game is good

this can be anything to very specific mechanics or characters or something more broad like representation or something like that

also before reading or posting on here note that SUBJECTIVITY IS IMPLIED so no "this is just ur opinion posts" because i know that AND no "this is just my opinion" posts because we all know that. I want ur cold hard opinions not ur warm soft facts

as an example ill start by saying that -ahem-

Half life 2 isn't the greatest game ever actually.

My small list of reasons as to why:

1. the level design is dogy at parts, at the start of the game its nice and fun playing with the strengths of the combine AI but in the middle to the end of the game some areas turn into monster rooms or one stand scenarios that makes the combine look dumb

2. the "cutscenes" are kinda annoying. Half Life 2 is often praised for "not having cutscenes" and for not taking control from the player and while one of them is true the former is just an illusion. There are cutscenes and i dont mean the starting and ending one i mean in between chapters where ur stuck in a room waiting for everyone to shut the fuck up and give u what u need for u to move on. Its not that bad but it just pisses me off for some reasons

3. Highway 17 sucks

4. i want more chapters like we dont go to ravenholm... (not just zombie chapters)

5. half life 1 is better in most ways other then graphics

am i saying its bad? no. I had my fun with the game

am i going to give it another chance sometime in the future? yes as it felt interesting

but as it stands right now as of 25th of July 2026 14:01 CEST i think that half life 1 is better then 2]

i also didnt include episode 1 and episode 2 in this as while i did play them they dont have the same issues

BLOOD TYPE A+

i didn't like bioshock 2 because the "kill a ton of splicers coming at you at once and sometimes we'll give you a mini boss literally right after you complete that task" thing that they kept doing felt more like a chore than a challenge and i just didn't feel like picking it back up. it was a shame because i adore the first one but i didn't find the 2nd very fun

I didn't like Dead Space 2. The moment they gave the protagonist a face and a voice, it felt like a Hollywood movie.

Don't get me wrong, game is fun and worthwhile, but in my opinion, they ruined the ambience Dead Space 1 had.

@Tirux Nah, the fact Isaac isn't talking to himself constantly keeps it from feeling like AAA slop. Sure, he has a voice now but he really only speaks when speaking to another character or just when something really fucked up happens. Now, Dead Space 3 though...I had my fun but it's not a good Dead Space game.

I don't like most horror games, none of them are particularly scary, and most of the PS1/2 ones have bad/unfun gameplay outright (*and on this note, anyone who says "It's supposed to be unfun, that's the intent" when it comes to any game deserves to be shot)

At best, some of them are dark/have dark subject matter I guess, but that still doesn't automatically make something good or worthwhile necessarily

I want to pick up this call.

@Black Market Stray Cat tank controls are the death of me

I hate those hyperrealistic sports games. Like fantasy football or whatever. So much money goes into them and theyre so popular for what? Why not go outside and play the sport? Ik some people cant but still, i hate them

@hikikomoricutie

to this i refute

when you play football outside ur playing with ur friends or smaller local leagues

when ur playing a sport game ur playing as big international athletes

basically a "what if" scenario but im game form and u skinwalk ur fav guy and everyone else plays semi realistically

tho while i agree with the idea its mostly just EA being super greedy and making the same game every year

its also a casual genre as in people who consume games rather then play them think of the ball-and-gun gamer

i also dont like sport games but i just dont like them rather then that i think theyre redundant

BLOOD TYPE A+

@mola ur right this makes sense. Still dont like them, but to each their own opinions

Fallout 4 feels so far removed from the past games that it made it less enjoyable by a lot. I HATE the way the dialogue is set up, I hate the voice acting, like that is NOT my character they would not fucking talk like that plus it's SO SLOW!!! And also, it feels sanitized compared to past games. I literally didn't finish it, I just disliked it so much.

I am SO scared for Fallout 5 and whatever Obsidian has cooking, although I am more hopeful for the Obsidian one. If only by a little. I have many problems with Bethesda right now anyway.

🔆Sol🔆

@Sol honestly this isnt as much of a hot take as it is real

also yea but its def better for obsidian to try again rather then let fallout 5 be another fallout 4

I think 70% of my playtime on red dead 2 was me sleeping,, I should play it again so I can rest 30 minutes after launch

I love the original Psychonauts and I will die loving all Psychonauts. However, for the first one...

  • The gameplay mechanics are pretty janky, and will kill you on a whim when you can't either get out of the way, or just miss your target.
  • The graphics are... very clear about who is a main character and who isn't. The side characters --while varied and wonderful in their designs-- are visually under-developed during gameplay.
  • Finding all the figments is horrifically tedious, especially if you're down to the last few in Milla's mindscape. Usually the bright colors makes it easy to spot, but Milla has the decor of a goddamn disco party, and they blend in in even the most blatant of places.
  • WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE DIFFICULTY OF THE MEAT CIRCUS?
  • Also: Tim, what in the hell was the idea behind making 1.5 a fucking VR exclusive game??? That was a stupid ass move, cutting off a large swathe of your fanbase my guy. Sure, I can watch gameplay on YT, but I will not be able to enjoy it like the others.

~°☆Get in loser, we're living past the end our myth☆°~

limbus company isnt the best project moon game and im tired of everyone glazing it. is it a good game? yes! but is it the best in the franchise? absolutely not.

Cody was the only character I had a modicum of fun with. He's the only character that felt right with me. Everyone I played in prior games like Akuma and Juri felt like a shell of the gameplay I experienced in SFIV.

Like yeah I could play just fine but it felt just wrong playing them, something within me just knew their gameplay was messed up going from 4 to 5.

The story is ok, don't get me wrong, but what I really hate is the whole "G will bring the end of the world" stuff they tried going with in the side stories. It felt like a big setup with a potentially incredible villain only to just, not do anything with it. SF6 is like 15 years later and the world isn't apocalyptic yet because they've pretty much abandoned/forgotten every mcguffin plotpoint in the series.

I hate the ai scaling in 5 too. In 4, you could go from like "medium" to "medium hard" to "hard" and I could get better with that. With 5 it's just like, easy and medium and hard and the jump is insane. Easy feels like a snoozefest and I can keep up with medium like, 3-4 out of 5 times. And Hard is hard, I cannot keep up at all.

I hate almost everything about 5, it almost killed my drive for fighting games from playing it. Every time I would think about 5 I would get nothing but awful memories. The only thing I enjoyed about 5 was retiring the game in favor for the rest of the series. I would rather have 5 just removed from the series entirely than ever even think about it again. I loathe it. It's genuinely awful.Street Fighter 5 is the worst fighting game I've ever played. Everything feels so sluggish and awful, none of the characters sit right with me even after I played pretty much all of them.

"Secret technique! Sprout Scattering!"

JET SET RADIO IS SHIT! THE MOVEMENT IS SHIT! but i'd also not trade it for anything ever it's my favorite game evurrrrr (i need a jsrf pc port so i can play it instead)

that's what i think, anyway...

Reverse 1999 is weird sometimes. I don't mind the gameplay (even tho to a lot of ppl its boring) and I dont mind the art(its cute) and I appreciate the detail put into the characters and voice acting. Theres just some things that I find questionable. The localisation of the first few chapters is shit. U can tell its been translated from chinese to english. Some of the characters sound funny talking in their native language. Reverse 1999 has characters from different nationalities so sometimes the characters way of speaking might sound odd to those who understand their native tongue. Black people are lowk underrepresented in the game (sure theres one decent NPC but thats it). For a game that prides itself on diversity they are weirdly obsessed with russians. They love Russia so bad litr every character they release has a 50% chance to be a russian, did i mention they have a collab with Atomic Heart going on rn. Oh yea and didnt they misrepresent Brazil in that one story chapter where one character supposedly compared brazilian coffee to dirt. Yeah, its questionable as hell.

BLOOD TYPE A+

Breath of the Wild was a disappointment for me.

  • The world feels super empty with nothing to do. Like I get that this is a post apocalyptic world, but all you do is run from one town to another in wide fields that drag on for ages.
  • The shrines are far too repetitive. There are some unique ones, but many are "roll this ball into this hole" or "defeat this scout." After a while I just started skipping them.
  • The weapon durability. It really sucks when you're in the middle of fighting an enemy, and all of a sudden your sword breaks. This leaves you vulnerable, and totally screwed if you don't have any more weapons. Even the master sword has durability. It doesn't truly break, but it needs to recharge after a few hits. Because it never leaves your inventory, you lose an inventory slot. Oh, and you can only carry so many weapons at once.
  • The lack of dungeons. I get that Nintendo wanted to shake up the formula, but the dungeons were what made Zelda so unique. There are only five dungeons in the game, and four of them feel far too similar.
I feel asleep!
