It's been really awful being a movie fan for the past 2 years, with a total lack of creative and new original films. We have been seeing a lot of movie execs just push out sequels to pre existing films, live action versions, and such.
However, right now we've had the release of two very sucessful original movies, Backrooms (which yes, is an adaptation) , and Obsession. The Odyssey (Which yes, is also an adaptation) is having lots of people cheer. I point out that these are adaptations because I'm know that many people are tired of adaptations like video game adaptations because they usually are very disconnected from the source material and are exisiting to make endless of these from pre existing fans, but I see many people treat something like Backrooms differently as it acts as a more original standalone. I think this is the road we're taking to get out of it. We definitley are not out of it just yet, but I think we're kind of experiences a "renaissance", a rebel against well... You say. Everything.
