i hate when people act like my opinion is a fact. I clearly stated it’s my opinion and people get so worked up. I posted on my instagram note saying that a trend is dumb and some of my “mutuals” went ballistic and started calling me a “party pooper” and “fun police”. ITS AN OPINION??? They act like i said something inappropriate and wrong. it’s weird. this is why i like friendrewind better, because people actually have common sense and know wether it’s an opinion or a known fact. Some people need to grow up

For sure. Also, speaking of opinions, I've seen a lot where it's just one extreme or the other - best thing ever! worst thing ever! Like, what's wrong with just liking or disliking something without having a visceral reaction these days? I think it's fine to find something just kind of okay, to mildly enjoy something and move on to other things without a strong reaction.
now, i'm just an alien, so don't quote me on this, but i think the overload of short-form content in the past few years (with instagram and tiktok being the worst offenders, but also youtube w/ shorts, among others) has sort of...made it hard for some people to interact with things in good faith?? like, the constant stream of entertainment, at least for me, makes it so my brain gets fully hypnotized by it, so maybe those meanies are so immersed in their phones, they...forget there's a real person behind that screen?
my main way of combating the gloom that emerges from the people calling everything and everyone "cringe, corny, basic, etc." is...well, is there anything you enjoy besides harassing folks for disagreeing? can you enjoy media unironically? or has your brain been evaporated by alien laser rays? not my alien laser rays. those are just for show :3

the consequences of short form content, completely killed everyone's ability to think and comprehend that other people have different opinions. especially related to more nuanced topics, god you cant discuss anything on tiktok or instagram unless you've built an audience with your views

In all seriousness, the internet kinda sucks. Every person like this only hangs around echo chambers, and the modern internet treat disagreement as some sort of thing to avoid, even if it is something minor. Not only that, but everything has to be all or nothing. Love something or hate it. Nuanced or moderate takes are seen as a big no no. Sadly, this isn't new, and probably won't go away anytime soon.
