Since my last mp3 player broke I finally got to fixing my destroyed 5th gen ipod i bought at a yard sale a while ago and damn this thing is awesome. The dac on this thing is sick and the interface hasn't aged a day and thanks to software written my some awesome people you can just sync the music with your pc!! Just wondering if anyone else here is still using one of these ancient things and what yalls experiences with them are
I am!!! I have a blue iPod nano gen 2. This baby has a pretty good battery, which is rare. She also only holds 4 gb, compared to the like 25 gb as my last one. However, this is helping me not hoard music I hate on it. Now ill sit and listen to music without anything else. Its nice!!! I also like the scroll wheel a lotttt. Its soooo much easier to change my battery.

Yeah! i have a 5.5(th?) gen one and that thing was so easy to work on, only difficult part is not losing those tiny screws. Wish the nanos where that easy to work on, especially with all the battery issues they are having, having to slide it out and not mess up the soldering seems painful

hell yeahhh, nanos are awesome but theres something so special about being able to mod the classics into exactly what you want them to be

sadly they're really sought after nowadays so its pretty difficult to find one for a good price, worth checking out yard sales and stuff like that though, thats where i have the best luck atleast

i want to get an ipod so bad!!!!!!!! i didn't get to have one when they were popular because of the price point but even used they're still pretty high up there. can't seem to find a modern equivalent that isn't amazon trash so i might have to pony up the money sometime soon.

There are actually some good modern equivalents from sony and fiio, but a lot of em do cost as much as an ipod did back in the day if not more. Still worth looking at if you want more modern features, unfortunately most of them aren't quiteee as cool as ipods, at least in my opinion :p
i've been wanting to but unfortunately both my childhood ipods cant hold a charge without being plugged in these days </3 and i dont have the money for a replacement rn not even thrifted. i miss my ipods so bad tho T_T the click wheels are so satisfying and fun to use, and omgggg i miss coverflow SO MUCH. i even had a tiny ipod version of the game spore on one of them it was awesome lol

it seems that mp3 players are making a small comeback. i have a mp3 player i bought off amazon some time ago filled with songs and ablums i liked.

yo!! crazy how i’m seeing this forum now, i was just posting about this on my blog the other day.
i unearthed and revived my family’s old iPod mini 2nd gen (monochrome screen, 4GB) and i’m waiting to move back to the city in which i’m studying at where i have my USB adaptors/ports and everything, so that I can start reformatting this thing and adding my own music.
honestly i think it’s a great change from spotify and other major streaming platforms. no ads, algorithm, notifications that distract you, AI, or anything else. just your music (and the occasional game of Brick or Parachute which for some reason are part of this device’s functions.)
it’s probably gonna become my main source of music from now on! i’m so happy reading this entire forum wall and seeing people are reviving these cute little machines :]
Yes I modded a 5th Gen ipod. Did a iFlash adapter 128 gbs and pink on pink case and faceplate + a huge battery and it lasts forever before needing a charge. i put the biggest battery i could in it.
my dad gave me his old ipod touch so i use that sometimes
the power button is broken tho so its kind of wack
very frutiger aero, all the apps are broken and safari doesnt work

@goodbunny Yeah ipod touches are kinda a no go for most of the community. You can mod them and fix them up but most of the community is modding or just using stock ipods before the ipod touch even existed. Alot of us are using the ipod 5th gen 5.5 6 or 7 and the nanos

@bubl33z checkout iopenpod, allows you to just sync your music library to your ipod, saves so much time compared to using itunes
I use a 6.5G/Classic 160GiB but I run Rockbox on it so it isn't a nightmare to manage and to get codecs that don't suck ass (i.e. Opus)
I bought an mp3 player a couple of years. I love it. It's too bad that it's bluetooth doesn't link to my car for some reason. Only smartphones link. Which is lame.

I have a custom modded 5.5gen classic, black front with a dark blue clickwheel. I has 128gb of storage and a new battery. I would of modded it myself but I am disabled and am unable to do most fine motor movements :/ I'd really like to add one of the shuffles and an ipod nano 3rd gen (I collect physical media it's a special intrest of mine)
I still use my iPod 4th Gen Photo just about daily. I love it sm!!
