do you guys think a band/artist can blow up on FriendRewind?

Back to Music

now i wasn’t born early enough to fully experience myspace but i do know for a fact that there were bands and artists such as arctic monkeys to blow up on myspace due to their demos being shared.

in your opinion, is there a chance in todays day and age that a band can blow up on such a niche website? it feels promising.

if friendrewind ever gets popular enough to rival more mainstream sites like facebook or instagram, maybe. at present i think its certainly possible for friendrewind to be part of a band blowing up (i.e. getting early fans from friendrewind while also posting to more popular sites like youtube) but for a band to blow up fully from freindrewind seems nearly impossible. more impossible things have happened, though, so i wouldn't rule it out entirely. i can definitely see a band gaining a cult following on here though

@AdenOnTheWeb

thanks for the response, I definitely understand what you’re saying and it makes a lot of sense. FriendRewind however does seem to be very lively, i just hope it stays lively because this is a VERY nice website…

Realistically, I doubt it. Never say never and all that, but yeah. But I'm fine with that, I personally just like sharing my stuff, and if it reaches someone who enjoys it, that's fine by me. I think the site would need to be a lot bigger for blowing up levels of exposure to even be within the cards, I think. Who knows, we'll just have to live and wait and see where things go!

@Cordell I do agree with you on that, this website needs to be quite big in order for someone to actually blows up.

But yeah who knows.

i'm going to be honest with you: word of mouth is EVERYTHING for indies of all sorts. the spark doesn't have to come from a tiktok video blowing up or a viral music video. it just has to get people talking. i can totally see a band getting a following here that spreads to other places, because nobody is on friendrewind exclusively... even people who forego other social media still have irl friends that they might share their music discoveries with. i can think of several marketing reasons why someone might post here alongside the big platforms... lack of algorithm for one thing is super appealing to a growing number of the population, nostalgia is another... it's not likely, but i don't wanna call it impossible either.

@mallrat

i completely agree with you on how posting on FriendRewind can be marketing strategy, it’s definitely a way to reach a certain audience. What audience? I don’t know. But it’s definitely an audience.

@Late Night Kitchen punks.

Honestly I think if FriendRewind gets more traction I think a lot of bands will start to blow up. Some lesser known bands that I think could get a pretty good following are Integra Pink and Dyego.

In combination with word of mouth/other sites? Yeah. From FriendRewind exclusively? not at the moment

if you all friend me right now then yeah

@Xx-Dart-Darling-xX Alright, sure. LOL XD
