So lately, here.... I've checked around to see if anyone had ever talked about Sega Saturn and only mentions here are like on one of the Bios of one of the users here and one mention on a blogpost.
So I'd like to be the if not one of then, the first one to bring this up here....
So what's your favourite Sega Saturn game? Me personally I pretty much like the Arcade Games that's ported on the Sega Saturn especially the Arcade Games of Sega themselves.
Their Arcade Fighting Games like "Virtua Fighter Remix" and "Virtua Fighter 2", "Fighting Vipers" and "Last Bronx". (Speaking of Last Bronx, I've been digging the Opening Song they used there which is "Jaggy Love" by "D'Secrets" it's so good, check that out.)
And Racing Games like "Daytona USA" it's not perfect yes, but gameplay wise it's still as good and fun as the Original Sega Model 2 Arcade Game, "Sega Rally Championship" and the one that I've been playing a lot lately "Manx TT SuperBike".
There's quite a lot from Sega themselves that I've been talking about and still quite a lot that I haven't mentioned.
What about Third Party Arcade Games?
We've got plenty from CAPCOM like their 2D Arcade Fighting Games which was a staple of their 90's Arcade Hits like the Street Fighter Games, they ported the first three Original Street Fighter II Games on "CAPCOM Generations 5" release on Sega Saturn and as far as I'm concerned it's gotta be Arcade Perfect Port and as far as i can see it definitely is.... Then "Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers" and "Super Street Fighter II Turbo " on "Street Fighter Collection" and the latest ones at the time like "Street Fighter Zero" and "Street Fighter Zero 2" and these are exceptionally close to the Original Arcade Games.
Outside of Street Fighter Games they also had MARVEL Fighting Games like "X-Men Children Of The Atom" and "Marvel Super Heroes" on Sega Saturn.
And also they've got Darkstalker Games there as well.
Well there's still quite a lot from CAPCOM like the games that utilizes the great 4 Megabyte RAM Expansion Cartridge which brings Arcade Perfect Ports of "X-Men .VS. Street Fighter" and "Street Fighter Zero 3" which is quite amazing but I wanna move over to different ones.
If you guys wanna talk about more about from CAPCOM then feel free on the comments.
Now moving over we've got from TAITO, if you're a huge fan of 2D Arcade Top Down Shooting Games then this is for you.... They've got "RayForce" on Sega Saturn and for whatever reason they had to change the name to "Layer Section" which is a really nice Space Ship Shooting Game.... Then we got "Darius Gaiden" where you shoot Robotic Fish Enemies and it had multiple stages that you can choose from.
Aside games like that, we got "Elevator Action Returns " which is a run and gun game.
Aside that, we also got the classics like "Taito Chase HQ" where you drive around chasing criminals on the street.
There are others that I might forget mentioning from TAITO,
but let's move on to a different one.
Treasure had a fair share of games but notable one was "Radiant Silvergun" which was an Arcade Shooting Game that had great use of 2D and 3D it's quite pretty awesome and you gotta check that out
I've tried it before and it's pretty good.
SNK on the other hand brought several King Of Fighter Games on Sega Saturn as well as some Fatal Fury Games which are pretty solid ports.
Acclaim on the other hand also brought some of their Arcade Games on Sega Saturn like "NBA Jam Tournament Edition" and "WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game" which are quite excellent ports as well as some of the Mortal Kombat Games, though "Mortal Kombat II" was unfortunately a botched port and i don't recommend checking that out.
And Honourable Mention here would be Tecmo's "Dead Or Alive" which was an amazing port and I highly recommend you guys check that out as well and it's absolutely faithful to the Original Sega Model 2 Arcade Game.
So yeah, what are your favourite Sega Saturn Games? I think Sega really delivered on their promise of bringing Arcade Experience at Home with Sega Saturn.... And you could even see what Sega is going for with Sega Saturn just by looking at the Sega Saturn Control Pad, it's very Arcade Style.
And I almost forgot to mention that it's perfect for 2D Arcade Fighting Games like CAPCOM's Street Fighter Games and Arcade Fighting Games in general.
The Original Japanese Sega Saturn Control Pad (Which was later released for North American and European Model 2 Sega Saturn) is actually really good and quite comfortable and the design is actually really neat.
But yeah that's it for now, this is my first time writing a Forum Post and if it's not great then this is all the best that I could do but so far I'm having fun writing this down.
And I hope you enjoy it.
