Spoilers accepted. Let’s discuss Spider-man Brand New Day!!!

Back to Movies & TV

I’ve absolutely enjoyed the new movie and it made me cry 3 times. I had to remind myself this is fiction but still, those tears kept rolling down my face and the lump in my throat was there. Spider-man has been such an icon and role model for me throughout my life as I know he has been for many people.

Here are a few things that I noticed or took from it:

  • The social distancing Peter chose to do as a way to protect his loved ones that ultimately have forgotten about him is demonstrated by the arachnid part of his dna to over take his human dna. Kind of a way to say that many who distance themselves even for a good reason, can become isolated and slowly become a darker version of themselves. Of course, his grief and general depression triggered such event too.
  • The inhibitor (I don’t remember what it’s called, so sorry if it’s wrong.) but the thing that suppresses hulk’s dna and Peter’s arachnid dna, I feel is going to be an important piece of tech in future movies that deal with mutants now that Jean Grey was introduced in this universe. The message of course coming from this is the importance of accepting each and every part of yourself. Every quirk and flaw that one finds uncomfortable is better off to be embraced rather than suppressed. Not everyone is going to like these things about oneself but their opinion of one shouldn’t matter in any case. (I’m sure I can word this differently but I’ll keep it simple for now).
  • Peter’s heightened senses- I feel can be a good representation of asd and hypersensitivity. Those scenes felt how I feel when I’m in public transportation with no earphones. Everything gradually grows louder and overwhelming.
  • A fun introduction: the chase scene with the tank made me feel like I was playing the Spider-man game on the big screen lol. It was so cool and I just wanted to nerd out about it.
  • Then those quick moments of Spidey fighting other known characters and recreating comic covers.

There’s more, I’ll it at that for now. What are your favorite moments or things you noticed in the new movie?

Also, I’m gonna go see this movie again in a few days !

Happy swinging, Spidey people!
