I dislike nostalgia bait specifically it's supposed to reach the wrong audience. It just makes me sad that this kind of playlists/content exists because yes it's cool that it is showing an older time in a magical way but it's never the correct information.

I'm the type of person it's aimed at. This site is nostalgia bait really.
It sucks for you if you're younger because it's doing all these in-jokes that you don't get and they're largely lame and dated anyway and it all makes you think the past was ideal and it wasn't like that at all.
It sucks for me who was there because it's not the same and it's always commercialized and whatever made it interesting back in the day has been sucked out. It's like "Oh, remember this? You were here when this happened and isn't it so special? Let's just sit here and be old and I'll make some jokes about how kids don't know how to use a rotary phone or whatever."
I think it's destructive for older people. You have to be in the present and make the present work for you and see the good things in the present. The present is all we actually have.
Ya so I hate nostalgia bait. I hated it when I was young and saw all the stuff that talked up the boomers and I hate it now that I'm older and this stuff is trying to exploit me.
@Just looking I agree with you, however I don't think sites like this are purely nostalgia bait. Most of the reason these exist is nostalgia, sure, but a big reason as to why people are so fascinated ny the idea is the fact that it's not like modern social media in the slightest. You're not online 24/7, it's not as addictive, there's no algorithms that make it addictive, nobody's trying to scam you with platform curated ads, etc, and yes, aside from the fact that a lot of people want the edgy MySpace back or to experience the hyper it had back then, a lot of people want this kind of site for the community, slow engagement and (honestly) the profile customization !
Yeah, FR is pretty much nostalgia bait too. Albeit it has got more heart than most, in the sense that it's up to us to do the retro stuff we so yearn for, not that it's being sold to us or anything. Which is pretty nice.
