anyone here use flipphones and other old tech?

Hi :) so since like 2 months i started to use my flipphone again. I use one of a cheaper brand of my country, here we dont have the new nokias or anothers that exist in the US :(, but i do my best.

Here in my country the main text app is whatsapp and im sick of it, thats one reason why bc i still have my smartphone, but usually most of the time is off, i want to sell it soon, i hate how companies makes us depend on their devices to just exist...mostly i just use my pc at home and a few hours. Honestly the more time i spend with my flipphone and the real world, the less i want to spend time online. 

But i like to check websites like this (the old internet), because i like it, makes me feel nostalgic (yeah i have that 00/90s nostalgia), and it seems more real. I have a digital camera, a cd player (but i have few cds), and i want to buy soon a mp3 player or recycle some old smartphone, that tiny ones to make it like a mp3 player, wish to get an analog alarm clock lol, just i think would work better xD. I use physical maps sometimes when i was able to find ones printed in my city, otherwise i write the indications in some notebook i have (made me improve my sense of direction)

i wish to get friends here more friends that use flipphones to be more present and ditch technology, or similar thoughts. 

I really want to make the change to a flipphone the only thing keeping me from it is also whatsapp and also the fact that attendance at my uni is via a QR code that i need to scan, i'm thinking of only using it for that purpose cause i wanna get more conscious of my technology use and stop depending on it! Do you have any recomendations for flipphones? (i'm also from chile so any brand that you can recomend works, thanks!)

I use a barbie flip phone but keep my iphone for work stuffz!! Its only 12 bucks to power up and it super kool, just not very good for long text messages tho <3

I use a flip phone for my phone. I use other devices for other uses. I like it.

Using old tech is the best decision i've made this last year i think. I use mp3 and i feel like i dont owe any app anything for just wanting to enjoy the music, i also have cds, an atari when i wanna play videogames outside my house (bc i have an xbox but you cant play it everywhere yk), a digital camera i stole from my mom that she doesnt use anymore but i still have my smart phone; i feel like i cant get it away from me bc its so necessary for anything (even in university) and in my country we also use whatsapp, so i cant just delet everything:/ but i still make an effort to no use social media or do doomscrolling.

Not a true dumbphone but I've been using the Unihertz Titan 2 for 3 months and it's anti-scroll but still smart which solves a lot of the problems on both sides of the tech spectrum

@soupbeing i love that phone, i want to get it one day, and i agree :), is really an amazing decision to do

i have a ipod collection its at 8 ipods currently 

i mainly use my ipod video, my moto razr v3, powerbook g4 and hp ipaq

this last year i didnt have a working computer which was such an awful experience i dont know if ill ever be able to give up my smartphone since it really saved my ass when i couldnt get to the library to use the computers there. i basically only use it for instant messaging nowadays tho, i use an mp3 player and the only social media i have is tumblr and friendrewind. if i had a dumb phone i would definitely get one of the kinds that plays games! i need snake to live 

I don’t use a flipphone , but I’d love to use like an old phone for everyday, i wish they weren’t sunsetting 2G and 3G networks because my dad has the most adorable Sony Ericsson cyber shot phone from 2009 :< 

I try to use my laptop a lot more than a phone though, cuz it reminds me of my childhood :> i wanna try emulating windows 7 or vista, my dad emulated 3.1 so i think ill ask if he can do 7 for me lol 

i also like exclusively use my cameras for photos now 🥹 k love SD cards and plugging them in and scrolling through them 

Plenty. It's too much to list but I have plenty of old tech I use ranging mainly in the 1990 - 2012 period, but dating as far back as 1968.
