when you believe something negative, another says something positive but what if that positive message is a lie? Like how you think you’re ugly, another says “noo ur pretty” what if that message is a lie and just supposed to make you feel good about yourself when it’s probably not even true?
Cogito Ergo Sum - "I think, therefore, I am" implies that to "be" requires the ability to think. Therein lies a sort of semantical problem, how does one quantify what thought is? Does it begin before or after instinct? Does it require the knowledge of words necessary to define the thought one is having? That was what George Orwell ultimately talked about in "1984" - the destruction of thought through the destruction of language. Therefore, if the destruction of language removes the ability to think and leaves nothing but instinct and muscle memory in it's place - would the expansion of language to encompass yet unimagined feelings and sensations introduce new concepts we have yet to begin to fathom? I used to wonder if the reason we haven't identified any "new" colors was because we simply couldn't imagine them - it turns out it's actually a physical limitation in the human eye that restricts the colors that we can perceive on the visible spectrum. All of this is to say - I wonder frequently if sentience is downstream of the mind as opposed to the body - or vice versa.
