Psychological horror

Back to Games

Does anyone here mess with psych horror? Trying to find some people with similar interests and meet others who are into the same kind of stuff.

Oh my god, I love this genre of video games. Specifically the games from the ps1 era. I recently played, "Parasite Eve" and it was so scary. Still haven't finished the game but the old 1998's graphics really give the game a sense of eeriness. I'm curious as to what kind of games you're playing

DUDEEE, how was it?? I’ve been meaning to emulate that one.

I play a ton of older PS1-era games too. I’m always replaying the original Silent Hill games, Rule of Rose (The gameplay of Ror is a pain but I love the storyline sm), I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, and Cry of Fear. Lately I’ve been trying to branch out into even more older horror games because I honestly find them way more fun. There’s just something about those old graphics that modern games can’t replicate.

@ItzuAintRight PS2 games too. My favorite game of all time was made on that console, so I’ll always have a soft spot for it.

@schizophrenic_soup Great game, super inventive with the weird real time & turn based combat

love love loveee the silent hill games, even have the first part of mary's letter tatted on my arm and planning on making a piece out of it eventually.

amnesia: dark descent is also a classic for me, as is eternal darkness, which was made for gamecube.

In my restless dreams I see that town

In my restless dreams I see that town…

  • Silent Hill series
  • Rule of Rose
  • Amnesia series
  • Alice: Madness Returns
  • Cry of Fear
  • Layers of Fear (the second one was shit)
  • Outlast

imo, one of the best survival/psychological horrors ever is alien isolation

the game pretty much forces you to use your wits and intuition in a creepy and unsettling game of cat and mouse

also, alan wake 2 is pretty damn good as well <33

Totally! It's may favorite genre of horror in general. I grew up on them, and other horror like Resident Evil, because it's what my dad always bought. I've played every Silent Hill title, the Siren games, the Fatal Frame games, Rule of Rose (emulated), Haunting Ground (also emulated), Cry of Fear, Lost in Vivo, and right now I'm working through both Kuon and Koudelka (both emulated)

Wonderful Everday(Subahibi) is a fantastic one! Extremely disturbing and really puts the "psychological" in psychological horror to the point that I cant even replay some parts because I know how sad/horrifying it is and just cant stomach it lol...

Fantastic horror and brilliant writing overall, would recommend(and some banger ending songs)
