how would your oc get mischaracterized if it had a fandom?

i've often seen characters get mischaracterized or oversimplified by fandoms, at least for popular media. pick an oc (original character) and think "what if there was a fandom for them?" how would a hypothetical fandom change your oc or oversimplify them? 

as basic as it sounds, i feel like the moral grey-ness of my characters would be lost on a fandom. i've noticed a lot of fandom spaces describing characters' actions in a very black-or-white manner, often erasing the moral grey-ness that makes their stories interesting. therefore, my characters would probably be seen as the "good one" or the "bad one" without much consideration for what goes in between. 

hmm i feel like tokarev would be perceived as much more edgy than he is. in reality hes a very nice guy who cares abt other, he just kills ppl sometimes!

Don't got drawings of n e of them yet. But I feel like my one oc, Vintage, would be widdled down to.

One of my main ocs (who's known to be a severely mentally ill drug addict) already has a small fandom, yet people would either make fun of him for being a drug addict, bald, ugly or fat, or people would drool over him (somehow...) and have no good reason why they even like him

So from what I understood, people either see him as a joke or as some hot alpha or whatever. 

I'd rather have people hate on him more than have some so called fans that know absolutely nothing about him when there's information provided about him

the main character's canon evil lesbian situationship would be ignored in favor of making the top ao3 tag in the fandom a background ship between two men. aforementioned mc gets woobified into a 'smol bean uwu' type and headcanoned as asexual to justify this.

I have a lot of ocs but the one that I think would get mis characterized the worst is my oc James Wind because that's the purpose of his character. James is a groomer and with the way he's written he's meant to also be grooming the audience. He's objectively doing terrible horrible things and isn't getting called out on it, a rockstar in 1975 mind you, but he's written to feel like a friend, to "not be that bad", to have his behavior waved off and the only things focused on/talked about him being the good things, just like many groomers irl and these older rockstars.

James is a character MEANT to be mischaracterized because that's what happens alot irl. James is manipulating the audience perception of them to excuse/not hold him accountable just like what he does to his victim Bobi Raj.

my oc Tobias would def turn into a femboy or something like that it'd be awful lol or like one of those gacha princess hybrid things ToT

he's got a tiny fandom

I don't have any drawings of her, but the female president of my fictional country would probably seen as really 'seductive' or 'romantic' even tho she's the total opposite of that, just because she's a woman x( i think she'd be forcibly feminized despite her appearing and acting more androgynous

I feel like he would be like a fucking maniac like 2010's internet Mario and then become an absolute goober
