Poem I wrote. Feel free to interpret this and share with me.

Back to Books & Writing

I lie alone and confused on my deathbed.

Bedsores consume me, and Alzheimer's rots my mind.

A flash of her smile is remembered one last time, before it all fades to gray.

This is how I was destined to die anyway.

I love you as much as the moon shines.

But it doesn't really shine, does it?

I love you as much as the sky is blue.

But it isn't truly blue, is it?

I love you as much as grass is green.

But all grasses aren't green, are they?

I'm panicking, desperately rummaging my mind to remember her pretty face.

And the only thing I'm left with, as I know my time is running out,

is the fact that, maybe you weren't meant for me.

Even though my love for you was free.

It sounds like Anxious attachment love style. You love someone very much, but can’t help but pull away. You give everything you can but you still anticipate the hurting. All the questions you asked is a way, you try to have them verify their love for you. When you ask, “But it isn't truly blue, is it?” You pray for your partner to respond, “it’s as blue as god made it to be”. Saying that the love is true as it can be.

“But it doesn't really shine, does it?” With comfort your partner say, “Even if the moon doesn’t shine, it’s still visible and very much there. If it’s another night, at least there’s still stars to look at.” Their sayings even if you doubting their love, it’s still there. Even in the darkest days, there’s still memories that would twinkle in your mind, to help you remember that your partner would always be by your side.

“But all grasses aren't green, are they?” And they say, “Even the dying grass can be replenished and saved.” Meaning, even if the relationship can be slowly dying. Care and time can help it regrow.

However insecurities heavily took over, and ruined the relationship you had. Not because you fell out of love. But maybe you didn’t feel loved, or had forgotten it because you refused to take it in. You thought you did, but now you’re accepting that it’s already too late to fix it.

this was beautiful

this is ur sock account

i mean really this is the best thing on the whole site

anyone who cant see that has lost their marbles

i feel like its so achingly beautiful. like smthns missing but at the same time you're at peace with it

I think it says it how it is; you’re on your death bed and you’re thinking of your lover, maybe an ex while you were alive, but someone you truly, deeply loved.

I love you as much as the sky is blue.

But it isn't truly blue, is it?” - something about that line appeals to me most.

Everything must seem so one dimensional when you’re about to die: so unreal. But clearly not this individuals ache and love for this woman. Beautiful, haunting poem. 🖤
