Horror Movie Recs Please!

Back to Movies & TV

Sooo my whole life ive loved spooky, scary things, but ive always been a huge wuss once it comes to like actually watching movies. Like ive watched mainstream slashers and like random comedies with like a horry/spooky aspect, but nothing really of substance.

So basically im asking for recs that won't be too scary for a wuss like me, but scary enough to basically build up a tolerance (sorry weird wording) for like really good ones.

THIS IS SO REAL!!! I've always loved horror premises and the psychological side, but gore and that stuff just horrifies me and I have the resting heart rate of a small rodent I feel. I really enjoy these ones, which are like spooky and more terror than horror: The blaire witch project, Bodies bodies bodies, Creep!!! For me found footage horror is always good because you usually don't see the gore clearly. It's much more eerie it's the best.

You may like the collector! It's pretty scary at times while not being insanely bloody from what I remember?? there is some animal death (a cat and some fish) but if you don't wanna watch those parts you can easily find the timestamps online! It's a home invasion horror with like a lot of traps. some people compare it to saw but the only similarity is that they're both horror movies. Speaking of saw, there's not much blood or jumpscares in the first movie but more of that appears after the franchise goes on.  Also, unlike popular belief, american psycho isn't really that bloody. It is pretty disturbing tho

monster house is a really funny movie

The Witch by Robert Eggers! It's set in 1630s New England with a family cast out from a village and forced to survive in the unknown wilderness while a sinister entity haunts them, tearing the family from the inside out. I definitely recommend this movie and the rest of Eggers' films! He really aims for historical accuracy
