which artist means a LOT to you and why?

for me, Aurora means a lot to me.. when I was a lot younger, she changed my perspective on the world, love, earth, feelings... alongside keeping me through some rough times.. I have bad memory loss and can't remember many things, but I still remember one of my happiest moments being stuck in my room in a storm and rain being so loud that it drowned the sound of me singing my lungs out with her songs while at the same time crying a river.most therapeutic moment in my life •́⁠ ⁠ ⁠‿⁠ ⁠,⁠•̀

i think an artist that means a lot to me is david byrne from talking heads :) (also his solo projects buts hes known for talking heads). His music touch a lot of topics but specially the feeling of being neurodivergent that i really appreciate because its crazy and stimulating. He talks a lot about how moving and dancing is sort of like stimming on stage and i love it!! i love dancing and hes just an authentic old guy who has known all the aspects of being in the spectrum.

On kinda the same note, FKA Twigs has been a huuge inspo for me lately, not only for her style but for the way she is. The expression in her music is unique and has this freedom of self that i really admire. Shes also sooo fucking fun!! has this variety of music that comes from her soul and this deep need to explore. Shes just so amazing.

Twenty one pilots is one that im kinda ashamed to say but also their old albums were such an important part of my childhood that i cant ignore them lol 

Easily Elliott Smith. Ever since I really got into his music it's really resonated with me heavily. I think he was both a one-of-a-kind musician and definitely just an amazing soul in general. I remember being admitted to a mental hospital, and when we were allowed to listen to music, I would always listen to either Ballad of Big Nothing or Pitseleh. They're still my favorite songs of his. Listen to them if you haven't! RIP Elliott :,,)

Ween has saved my life way too many times to count. Whenever I feel like absolute shit I just turn on Quebec and realize that I'm not alone out there, or Pure Guava if I really need a laugh. A lot of their music is inherently funny, yeah, but they also know when to be dead serious. 

I'll also list Boards of Canada as well. Been listening to them a lot recently, and a lot of their more beautiful tracks (Oscar See Through Red Eye and Nothing is Real immediately come to mind) have been really helping me get through the day. I think I speak for practically everyone when I say that life's sucked recently, so these respites, no matter how brief they are, are what I'm getting up in the morning for. 

i think the cranberries will always take this spot, they really influenced my taste in music so much so i listen to a lot of 90s alt rock due to them, they conect me with my mom since while pregnant with me she found a 'Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?' for babies at a bookstore and listened to it on repeat (especially linger)

My chemical romance, i had really related to their songs and every time i listen to cemetery drive i pause and think of how far i've come and how i refused to give up. I know its corny and like every other story, but they were always there, even when i constantly declined in mental health over and over <3

Avicii, he was one of the artists I grew up with and was one of the many artists that inspired me to start making songs myself. Some of my older stuff before I was into the hyperpop scene took inspiration from him and a handful of other EDM artists. So sad that Avicii died.

Definitely Mitski, when I was 12 I got severely depressed, her songs bring me to life and I had related to them, she's actually one of my favourite things in my life! I recomend her if you wanna cry for a while :3

probably the killers,,  i really wasnt passionate about music or anything until i found them, theyre the first band i ever got into. i became soooo obsessed with them while doing my gcse's, id listen to literally all their songs when revising for them. id obviously heard of them before, but their second album really resonated with me as a weird lil 13 year old. i dont listen to them as much anymore, but theyll always have a soft spot in my heart

honorable mention goes to  metallica, love listening to them with my dad

saw them live in 2023 and rewatched your name last night, that album is the best ever ugh

waterparks. they helped me alot to get through after my worst year and helped me move on about my ex. also really admire their commitment and how they speak up abt politics more than pretty much artists.
