Photo uploads losing transparency

Back to Site Feedback

hello! hopefully this isn't me rehashing an issue previously brought up, or this is somehow an intentional feature. i did a quick search to see if anyone mentioned words similar to this issue, but i see nothing.

soo i've been uploading a lot of my artwork to my profile via the photos section of the site, which is super cool! but something i noticed is that for all but one of the artworks i uploaded, any image with a transparent background lost its transparency and gained a garish black background. i was very confused as to what the correlation between images that kept transparency vs lost it was until today.

due to some renewed investment in the issue, i played around with a couple photos of mine and it seems that photos automatically ditch their transparency if either the width or height is around 2,000px or larger. 1,900x1,900px was the largest photo i could manage to upload to the site that kept its transparency. so it seems like a file dimension issue, but maybe its a file size thing and my anecdotes pointed towards something else.

if this is unintentional, i figured i should bring this up so it can possibly receive a fix or something. in the meanwhile, it won't kill me to scale my images down just enough to keep the transparency haha. if it is intentional, then, emm? iunno, i don't think it's mentioned anywhere along the photo uploading process this would happen, so a warning to keep images small would be nice.

cute character calling on cell phone Stay giggly!

damn, ok thx for the info!! i almost never make transparent artwork but sometimes certain character poses or things to be edited in other programs later ARE transparent

that does stink slightly...like uhhh it's not ruinous imo but still. that ain't hunky-dory! and mad props to you for actually trying to figure out the cause of this problem, unlike me, who panics the moment a toothpick is out of place in this digital wonderland i'm crafting for myself...

stay giggly yourself pal!! :3
