Bad Fandoms !!

Which fandoms do ya'll think have the WORST communities??? 

Hetalia or dandys world. half of the people in the Hetalia fandom are just RACIST and the other half (including me) is just teenage girls simping over the characters. also just look up the "hetalia holocaust incident". also in 2010 the ship wars were so bad someone at a con put a razorblade into someones food because they shipped a completely legal ship that was "getting in the way" of another ship. dandys world is obvious... 

Literally most kpop fandoms have the worst parasocial and meanest people ever 😭

Okay half of the Hamilton fandom is awesome but then you have the other half that quirkify literal slave-owners abd of course we all know about Miku binder Thomas Jefferson

Honestly, I'm part of a bunch of different fandoms and i think all fandoms have all have small (sometimes large) community of awful and just rude/racist/homaphobic ppl :/ I may be wrong tho (no hate to any fandoms!! just my opinion)

the GA of the stranger things fandom is insufferable sometimes..

ultimately it's the biggest fandoms that are guilty, lemme introduce the 1% theory,

"Say you have a small fandom, like 500 people- the 1% Theory says that out of those 500, only 5 of them will be absolute nutjobs. This is incredibly manageable- it's five people. The fandom and world at large can easily shut them out, block them, ignore their ramblings. The fandom is a "nice place".

Now say you have a medium sized fandom- say 100,000 people. Suddenly, the 1% Theory ups your level of calamity to a whopping 1000 people. That's a lot. That's a lot for anyone to manage. It is, by nature of fandom, impossible to "manage" because no one owns fan spaces. People start to get nervous. There's still so much good, but oof, 1000 people.

Now say you have a truly massive fandom- I use Homestuck here because I know the figures. At it's peak, Homestuck had approximately FIVE MILLION active fans around the globe.

By the 1% Theory, that's 50,000 people. Fifty THOUSAND starting riots, blackmailing creators, contributing to the worst of the worst of things."

BUT there are exceptions to this, at least to me.

from what I've seen, media that has a cute exterior but contains dark themes can attract a lot of bad people regardless of fandom size. two that can come to mind are nso and yandere simulator, I have way too much personal experience with the latter. I also remember danganronpa fans being pretty awful during the covid lockdown but maybe they've calmed down by now idk I don't go there anymore.

and there are also exceptions to that exception. because honestly class of '09 has the most toxic content ever but the fandom seems to be chill lol

i'd say the rockafire fandom unfortunately. for those of us that are young and actually treat it as a fandom with fanart and fanfics- its great! we're cool! but the older adults who have been into rockafire or have grown up with it or are owners/ rich collectors and have lots of power are often racist, pedophiles, or both. they call themselves the "mafia" and often refer to the whole fandom as the "mafia". i suppose it doesnt help that the chronically-online 70 year old who owns the rock-afire explosion is a complete nutjob. and i mean NUTJOB.

listen ive been in fandom for a long time like a significant portion of my life. dandy's world and like forsaken or whatever aren't really reasonable picks for "worst fandom" since like they have some incidents and an annoying fanbase but like every fandom as big as they are is like that. i think genuinely the picks for worst fandom of all time relative to the source material (so as bad as i want to put miss kobayashi's dragon maid, the fanbase for that show being weird makes sense because it's literally cp) are like my little pony, hazbin hotel, bfdi. at least the worst ones ive seen, there's probably been worse. those are just the top three though, between hazbin hotel and my little pony it's not even close mlp is definitely the worst fandom
