Does any1 else buy old gaming consoles instead of just using an emulator or remake?

For example, I bought a nintendo 64 to play Oot and Mm even tho I can play BOTH on switch lolz 

yeah i have wii u, dsi xl, 3ds, xbox 1 (although thats not too old), gameboy, gameboy color. i wannna get more but idk

Super Nintendo

Gameboy light (the foldy one)

Nintendo DS (original brick)

Wii

Switch mk 1

Original Xbox (needs to be cleaned)

Ps2

Ps3 (backwards compatible)

Ps4

I really have everything i need, except the Xbox. If I can get it going, I'm set.

Not really but I do plan on buying an Wii U for i and well  Wii U games and a New 3Ds XL which acts as my complete emulator library hehe

Yep!! I have Playstations 1-3 (and 4 but that's not really old), the OG Xbox, a Dreamcast, a DS, and a Wii. Emulation is great and even important but it cannot compare to playing it straight on the console. 

Yeah, in the 2010s I spent all my money on collecting games and didn't have a computer powerful enough to emulate. It's also just nice knowing what I'm playing is how it was developed to run, rather than something wrong with my PC. In that time period I got every Nintendo console and handheld, every PlayStation console and handheld, and a Sega Dreamcast, Genesis, Game Gear, and Master System. I never sold anything, and now try my best to promote video game preservation. I recently got an Xbox 360 and a gaming PC for the games that never came to console. 

Yup, I prefer to use real hardware if at all possible, especially for handheld games. I only resort to emulation if it’s a console I don’t have, especially if it’s one of those rare and expensive systems. I just don’t think it’s worth the exorbitant prices people ask for these days.

Me neither. I have a few consoles I've accumulated throughout the years, but don't see myself buying any additional ones for the foreseeable future unless I'm lucky enough to find a good deal by chance. That doesn't seem very likely anymore with all the flippers who buy things just to resell for a profit... it's ruined the hobby.

HI YES I DO!!! i have an nes, snes, ps2, wii, 3ds, and access to a gba (but not mine technically) and since ps2 and wii are both backwards compatible i get to play gc and ps1 games too

I guess you could say Ibought an older 'console' (handheld, not hybrid system) back in april. Idk 

I bought the ds for a number of life changing factors.

Realising we are ueading in a era of subscription services everywhere, the decline of physical media, online games and online servers closing.

With the Ds I get a touch screen, a crisp one. Has some 3D capabilities making it a very good modern classic portable.

 It has the little physical carts like the Switch. You can get ds games dirt cheap but the games are great. Its no psp but its better then the gba  graphically. The complete game is always right on the cart.

Basically if im playing a ds, itl feel modern thanks to the toich screen and 3D graphics. While the psp originally might be more powerful it does miss out on modern features such as thetouch screen controls. 

Picking between the psp and the ds you are picking between the vibe/ culture, and the pure technical specs of the system itself. For me it seems culture continues to win longer term which is why, say the online comsoles over took the singleplayer, thevhybrid is on its way to eliminate the stand alone console. Etc.

Plus with homebrew you can bring new opensource life to the system. Or newer homebrew dev games not officially released on the ds.
