Fun with cryptids!!

Aight, i thought this might be enjoyable little distraction. 

post a (or several if you got them) local to you, (dont have to be super specific, if your sparse on examples it could be within a hundred miles of your town, or somewhere else you lived)  
cryptid.  Tell us about it, and if you can, include some artist interpretations of it, or claimed photography. 
Not a thing i actually believe in at all, im naturally an ultra skeptic, so ghosts arent even real to me, but even so, folklore can be fun and interesting. 
i always thought it would be cool if someone like, made a fighting game of all cryptids or something. 

if you have trouble too finding a cryptid, local legend supernatural stuff is totally valid. something haunted. an interesting local ghost entity etc whatever.

Description: A hairy eight foot tall large footed creature. Possibly a relative of Bigfoot.

Location/Range: Found throughout Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree National Park, and the Twenty Nine Palms Naval and Marine Base. 

Sightings: The Tongva had oral stories of hairy beasts that roamed the deserts. Modern sightings became more common as the military base and other development into the desert regions increased in the 1960's-1970's.  

Fun Fact: Yucca Man is thought to be a cousin of the legendary Bigfoot who prefered to live in the warm deserts rather than the cooler mountainous regions of the Pacific Northwest. 





2. Proctor Valley Monster



Basically a big ass minatour demon.  which is fuckin dope. 

The Proctor Valley Monster is said to be a Bigfoot type entity or a bovine like creature that roams around Proctor Valley Road near San Diego, California. The road itself is well known for a plethora of paranormal and strange animal activity.

One story from the road's history is of a teenage couple who go parking in the woods off Proctor Valley Road, in the southeast corner of San Diego County in California. The car won't restart, or maybe they had a flat tire, and the boy gets out to investigate - but he doesn't come back. The girl stays inside, terrified because she hears scratching on the outside of the car. Police find her the next day, still hiding in the car. The boyfriend? He's dead, torn and bloody, dangling from a tree, while his hands brush the car, producing scratching noises. The story sometimes has mysterious huge footprints found nearby. The legend of the Proctor Valley Monster grew, and it is described as a 7-foot hairy humanoid like a Bigfoot, or sometimes a cow-like animal with its body parts in the wrong place. The Proctor Valley Monster is assumed to be responsible for livestock mutilation that occurs every now and then. The Bonita Museum in Chula Vista has a casting of a strange footprint alleged to be that of the monster.

the above story seams to be an insert as i dont think its the origin of it, but the story in the area i would guess is told in that area as if that monster is responsible. 


3. Riverside monster. 

kinda looks like pumpkinhead to be honest. like from the movie franchise. 

not a cryptid but sometimes surfaces in myth

theres three different versions, but the one ive heard ppl use is the chicken that makes you sick & feel as if theres a weird pressure sensation coming over you. 

theres also a small devil version and a succubus/incubus, but the chicken is the one that i know and envision lol. but all three share the commonalities of turning into a lover that can only be dispelled by asking them to do something that is impossible to complete (but one of my uncles said u can also banish it into a tree and thats why some trees trunks have a big ring on them that look like a chicken's eye)

their presence is usually associated with being rich/selling your soul to the devil.

i cant find very many good depictions, but here is my favourite. just a big anthropomorphic chicken.
