Stopped loving your sport

Back to Sports, Health & Fitness

Hii, i've been training volleyball for about 7 years. I've never been perfect cuz of some health problems. But still i loved the sport and getting tired after training. My couch wasnt helpful at all, she make me hate this sport. She only cared about the place on competition, makeing us hate each other. After graduating school i wanted to try again but inside i just cant. How can i start loving voley again???? I really want to.

Not sure if this will help, I used to live, breath and sleep sports. I wanted to play in college and in high school I was trying to decide which I would go to college playing, my volleyball coach since middle school used to coach college and she thought I had what it took but I had grown up playing baseball/softball and it had been my dream to play in Olympics(they took it away but I thought it wmight come back). Towards the end of high school we got a new coach and long story short he benched me for speaking my mind. I ended up quiting and for many years it hurt, I called it my first heartbreak. I threw away all my trophies and stopped watching or carring. Several years (probably almost 10 years) later my sister convinced me to play a game of coed softball as a pickup player, she played on a team for many seasons. I remember standing at third and looking around before an inning started. Picking up a clump of dirt, thinking about how it used to mean so much, and I was ok with leaving it behind. I no longer felt sad I just knew it wasn't what I remembered. Sports were no longer my life. The others maybe wanted to relive their glory days but I wanted to move on. I haven't been back since and I got closure. Give yourself time. If you really want to you will. When I look back now I just think it would have been cool to see how far or how good I could have gotten and to test myself against other really good players that is the closest thing to sadness or regret which all it really is just curiosity on my part. But I needed that pick up game to show me it was ok not to love it anymore.
