i really really want a nintendo 3ds, and have since i was a child.....but currently i have a nintendo ds, so i am wondering if it is truly worth it, bcuz i know i would prolly never touch my ds again if i had a 3ds! (yes i could sell it Buuut my mother bought it for me and it would most likely upset her....) sooo are there any games that make it worth it to have a 3ds? give me your sincerest thoughts!!

Sincerely, having a DS or a 3DS is fun, i have a 3DS, and I played in my friend's DS once, but I can say both are rlly cool. You can stay having your DS if you want and still prove buying a 3DS, there's many fun games in 3DS like mariokart 7, cooking mama, animal crossing new leaf, pokemon X/Y, pokemon moon/sun, etc. I think it's rlly worth it, however, if you want to stay with one console that's ok too

I've been thinking about getting one, and just keeping my Brick DS for a show piece.

From what I understand, they are also surprisingly easy to jailbreak and load with an emulator.

@Erah Mar

i would for sure jailbreak it, the physical cartridges are wayyyy too expensive these days.......or i could just use my r4 card that i already use for my ds, im pretty sure the one i have works with the 3ds as well...

@самозванка yes DS cartridges are readable on 3DS.

As someone who's had both, both are nice to have!! While yes you can play DS games on the 3DS, the quality of the DS game isnt as crisp as on the DS (tho it mightve been bc I had a 3DS XL and the screen was much bigger) and honestly keeping the DS is nice just for the memories alone. You can always keep it as a backup!

As for 3DS games, my most played were Animal Crossing New Leaf and Tomodachi Life, tho the latter runs expensive last I checked..

@reverie99 what it is is the ds lite had the correct screen and pixel size for ds games specifically.

If you get a 3ds for playing both 3ds and ds games I'd suggest to get the smallest size. Or the size as close to the ds lite as possible.

yes

i love my 3DS, my brother homebrewed it for me for my birthday last year and it's amazing.

i love playing fantasy life (probably the best 3DS game of all time) and LEGO games, there's also this pokémon picross game which is awesome. Also pokémon xy and sun & moon. :D

i love my 3DS so much!!! it's so easy to jailbreak which means So Many Free Games

honestly its one of the biggest temptations, i see so many modded 3ds and they look so cool......

It depends on what kind of games you are interested in. RPGs and more casual games are its strong suit.

I personally love mine, and have since I got it in 2011. Plus their easy to hack.

However, they are uber expensive at the movement, so be wary.

I feel asleep!

3ds/ds have a good library especially if you are already interested in nintendo stuff! its also probably the best way to play the games released on them - barely anything can replace dual screen controls at the moment

@Red

yeah i played tomodachi life on an emulator and you could really tell it was made for dual screen.......playing it really made me wish i had an actual 3ds </3

definitely go for it, you should jailbreak it too, you get tons of fun games, it's highly customizable and you can use pretendo to connect with other people etc

the 3ds has an amazing library of games, not to mention it's backwards compatible with ds games as well. hacking it is the easiest way to get games for it since the eshop is down, not to mention the extra benefits like custom themes and homebrew applications and whatnot.

my personal recommendations depend on what kind of games you like, but my favorites are definitely 3ds) the persona q games, project mirai dx, pokemon sun/moon and ds) rhythm paradise, pokemon black/white 1+2, sonic rush and warioware diy. i'd also recommend bringing your 3ds to places like conventions because people there tend to bring their 3dses as well and you'll rack up streetpasses for extra features.

if you have a homebrewed 3ds, you can get twilight menu to play ds roms without needing cartridges, and i believe the other emulator launching capabilities it has require installing emulators to launch with since i haven't gotten them to work natively. google is your friend.

that's what i think, anyway...

@FauxHumanoid

thank you thank you for all the information!!!! now i am really looking forward to getting one...

Me personally I have a ds lite so I'm currently in the same boat if not having a 3ds in possession. I had played it in the past tho. When it was newer.

If you are looking for slightly better graphics (n64 ish ds original now up to GameCube on 3ds) it's good for that. If you want the 3d effects then it's worth it for that.

However if most the day games you'd ever want to play like Mario kart or Pokemon are already on the ds most fans will always seem to claim gba and original ds as the better classics.

Now if you want a portable Super Smash bros, or you want to play dead or alive, or kids icurus uprising. Games that only the 3ds could pull off that the original ds couldn't or didn't get in some form. 3ds is worth it increasingly for games like this.

I personally have had a 2ds my whole life and I love it :3

meow meow meow

I would defiantly recommend! Also if u dont wanna give up ur original DS you could turn it into an mp3 player like my friend or an ereader like my gf.

Also a really fun thing to do with getting cartrages is just looking on ebay for cheap games they made as like tie in for movies and tv shows. they made some pretty weird stuff.

@Benvolio_o

turning into an mp3 player!!!:gasp: i didnt even know you could do that!!! i will have to check this out, thank you for suggesting it bcuz one of my biggest hangups for getting a 3ds is that i feel my ds would become obsolete, but if i could use it for something else.....
