i REALLY liked little misfortune and I'm trying to find some more games like that :)

Have you played fran bow? Its from the same creator. Distraint isnt very scary but its still a good game

Gotta go with Silent Hill 2. It's pretty much the first thing you hear whenever someone brings up psychological horror games, admittedly to the point where it can get annoying to some, but it's like that for a very good reason. Such good portrayal of personal guilt, all kinds of trauma as well as responses to it, and melancholy. Really fun to analyse and pick apart the amazingly written, complex characters or elements of the world like the enemy design. Both the remake and the original is good, imo, and both bring their own special experiences to the table, to the point where I think it's worth trying both versions if you haven't before. 

Would absolutely recommend You and Me and Her if you like VNs.

OMORI is also one of the best psychological horror games from recent time

I recommend Signalis. Top notch horror game and has really cool retro graphics too.

(Seriously though, I can't think of any horror games off the top of my head; I think the last one that scared me was OutLast1)

mouthwashing had an incredible story, though the gameplay was a bit lacking (still, incredible story in my opinion, it never tries to spoon-feed you anything which I find annoying in a lot of horror games) if you want something with a bit more interest in gameplay, silent hill 2 would have to be my pick

check out cry of fear and darkwood, i dont know if stalker counts but you'll be on edge constantly with the random encounters and events

KIMIGASHINE!! one thing you should know is it gets better every time you play it, theres only about 4 different routes and the creator is planning on updating it sometime next year, (maybe!)

some say it's similar to danganronpa but I personally think that's pretty disrespectful, I'd say it's more like 'zero escape' in a way, aswell as having a much wider cast, (12 year olds - 30+ year old characters) aswell as having PHENOMENAL writing, The first gameplay will be alright, but by the third time of playing I guarantee it'll be your favorite game if you're into games that make YOU feel like the villain >:] id also say the game has amazingly written grief, I literally cried so many times because of it. 

The game is legally free on browser!! on nakidai's official site, aswell as the version with extra content that is on steam for 17 USD! But I recco buying it only if you enjoy your first gameplay.

Lost in Vivo is a pretty effective horror game. esp if youre claustrophobic

Try playing idols of ash, first game that made me scared.

Too basic, but I think Omori is a good one, idk I love the art style, the soundtrack and I'm sure ur gonna like the story and the multiple finals
