i've refined some of the details, the corporation still takes over, but eventually since humans become too dumb to manage things it collapses in on itself, leaving cities to self-govern themselves.
i feel like i should summarize what this is first, the story takes place about a million years into the future. ai began to rapidly develop, mostly thanks to the corporation i mentioned earlier, and people became heavily reliant on it. because of this, humans stopped thinking, creating, and achieving. overtime, they have evolved to become literal blobs, constantly being pampered, and extremely stupid.
meanwhile the robots develop sentience, intelligence, emotions, hobbies, pretty much everything a human would have. except, instead of eating, they recharge, and occasionally go for maintenance. they have friends, have families, etc.
the robots are essentially the working class, while the blobs are the ruling class, except they're too stupid to rule, so it's usually robots actually managing stuff de facto. the story takes place in one of many cities scattered around the world, heavily polluted. oceans drained, forests cleared, and most wildlife is extinct, again, mostly thanks to the corporation and the stupidity of humanity.
the story revolves around a robot, who's job is to manage issues whatever the blobs may be having. it's usually stupid, small stuff like their food not tasting good or their tv not working right. one day, a blob is dissatisfied with his service, so he's fired. while unemployed, the protagonist discovered artifacts of how humanity used to be, and gains aspirations of somehow restoring it. so, he goes on a quest to speak to the mayor of the city (a blob, with a robot co-ruler who is the one really in charge), but as he is a blob, he doesn't take anything serious and throws him out. so, the protagonist leads a rebellion, eventually restoring knowledge to the humans.
i also do have a sequel in mind, but i won't speak much about it yet.
i want to write this as some sort of dystopian novel once i do start work on it. input on it is welcome, and if any of you guys got any questions or suggestions, i'm here to answer them.
