@Jookia yeah i was thinking something basic like neocities similar to what a lot of other people have on here
depends on what you want a website for, and what your skills are
i'm generously assuming you're familiar with the three languages of the web:
if you want something like a static site, i would recommend using nekoweb as a host, it's free to start with no file type limits.
i use a github repository to organize my files and modify them on my desktop and then use a github action called deploy-to-nekoweb to deploy my site folder to my nekoweb site.
along with this, i use astro to compile static pages from templates so i don't have to manually edit each one whenever i change a ui element. there's other static site generators but this one has come to be the easiest for me so... of course one isn't required either, it just makes my life easier and i recommend it.

@FauxHumanoid i was thinking something like a neocities. i did use it once, i think it was in css or something. i'm not too informed on the different programming languages.
@stevee neocities is primarily HTML and CSS, with JavaScript as a bonus. those are the three languages of the web! i was self-taught so i can't offer much of a resource on learning them. i would figure out what i want to put on my website first and then learn everything i need to make it a reality.

Yes you should. Because the Internet isn't customizable anymore. It's just dark and light with maybe an accent color. That's it. With your own website, you can be you.
Here's a couple of things to help you get started;
