help xbox needs fixing

my parent's old xbox will turn on but the disc reader will not turn on or read any of the discs put in. does anyone know what i should do to fix it or if there's a place i can take it in?

Assuming you're talking about the Xbox 360, it sounds like the disc drive may be having a mechanical or electrical problem. Try unplugging the console for about ten minutes, then reconnecting it and testing a few clean, known-good Xbox 360 discs. If the tray won't open, the belt or eject mechanism may be stuck. If it opens but makes no spinning sound, the motor, laser, or drive power may have failed. If it spins briefly and then says "Open Tray," the laser may be dirty or worn.

Don't force the tray or use a random replacement disc drive, since Xbox 360 drives are paired with the console and usually need to be properly transferred or programmed. A local video-game console repair shop, retro gaming store, or electronics repair shop should be able to diagnose it. Tell them the problem you're having and ask about the diagnostic fee, repair cost, and warranty.
