someone needs to terminate all fandoms ever

yes, even the spaces that aren’t filled with teenage boys. yes, even the communities that put on happy welcoming smiles on their exteriors to excuse their egregious and abhorrent histories and fanbases. 

over the years, i’ve halted exploring fandom spaces due to the seemingly incessant racism, parasociality, homophobia, and so on. i haven’t found many reasons to do so, because of the reminder of how detrimental these places were for my health. the same trite, overdone jokes will be replayed. weirdos are going to be weird. i no longer want to be associated with these kinds of spaces.

idk another thing i feel like people forget wayyyy too often is that you don’t need to be in the “fandom” for something to enjoy it. you can just be a casual fan and thats it. 

note: please for the love of goodness be civil. wanted to say this just in case: i dont care if you’re hardcore about being in a fandom or whatever this is just my opinion. have a good day and stay hydrated

For me personally I don't think I've ever gotten too deep into a fandom (learning about fandom lore, debates, etc..) but my GOD that side of a fandom always pops up when I enjoy staying on the edge like yes it is lovely finding people who are into the same thing and as passionate about it as you are but some people are genuinely so unbelievable it makes it hard to even enjoy staying in a fandom.

Like I'm going to be honest I used to LOVEEE the warriors fandom but genuinely so much was going on especially with the amount of artists and all the arguments I kept seeing I ended up leaving the fandom and sort of abandoned? the series 

Also some people get WAAYYY too mad when you dont know every character and their full canon + fanon names and every single 50 thousand ship name they have,, like I saw a video not long ago sort of mocking people who don't know every character and showing the characters most people know and mind you those were the most RELEVANT CHARACTERS. Like I can hardly remember the other characters and some had such little screen time like okay I'm sorry I don't know your favourite character Samuel sharkington who had 4 seconds of screen time on episode 300 and appeared like once and never again.... YIKES.....
