Me and my best friend are going to be running our schools upcycle club. I'm very passionate about it and want it to be an exciting club. We've come up with a few ideas like doing different t-shirt alterations like bleach, cuts, and stamps. We also want to customize headphones, do seasonal crafts, and do some stuff with altoid tins. However, we're struggling to think of more ideas that are actually upcycling and not just crafting. Any ideas??
My daughter's old high school had something called Kennedy Closet. It was kinda like the school's thrift store. They would collect clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. that other students would donate. On certain days of the month, they would open up and students could get up to 4 items for free.
If you could find people within the community (school, libraries, centers for the elderly) who sew, knit, or crochet, maybe you could request donations from them. Things like granny squares could be used for pockets on upcycled shirts or jeans.
You could also collect old books and upcycle them into a journal or an artist book.
I'm really good at crafts, so feel free to ask for ideas. An upcycle club sounds like so much fun! Good luck!
I have seen a lot of people use Energy drink cans to make flowers and cute shit like that!!! also cardboard is being in SOOOOOO many crafts!!! I plan on using my college move in boxes to make a cathedral shelf :D
also!! learning how to cut and alter T-shirts is a big one for me!! I make so many of my band T-shirts off the shoulder!!
