Hello!
I came here from Spacehey. While I do enjoy Spacehey and it was very much one of the first Myspace clones I was exposed to on the internet (who remembers MS93 pre 2021?), it can be quite hard to find actual genuine human interaction and connection on there. Why this is? I have no idea. It just seems like people make profiles then abandon them, not like I can judge when I can go months without using the site...
but enough moaning and groaning about Spacehey, this is supposed to be an introduction to me.
My name is Esther (not irl name) and I'm 19 and from a little town somewhere in Scotland. My MBTI is INFP and my usual hobbies are digital drawing and painting, writing stories about my oc's, roleplaying and coding/programming when i can be bothered with it.
In 2024, I started seriously studying Judaism and Jewish history and this has became quite a big part of my personal life. I haven't converted due to location but this has been a huge interest for awhile now.
I should add that I am Autistic.
My favourite genres in fiction are usually Fantasy and Science Fiction because I love rich worldbuilding which all sorts of different fantastical species to discover. One of my favourite films of all time is James Cameron's Avatar but not necessarily for the plot but more so for the deep lore on the flora, fauna and history of the planet the films take place on.
I should add that I am a massive gamer, albeit I don't play games as often as I did in the past. My first console was the Playstation 3 in 2009 when I was 3 years old! I've been in the hobby for the longhaul since I was a little youngin lol. My favourite genre's of games are life sims, rpg's, adventure games. Honestly? I'll play just about everything. I particularly like retro games, anything from the 7th gen and back. PS2, Gamecube and PS3 are probably my favourite home video game consoles but the PSP and DS solo every other handheld IMHO. You can see some of the series I like on my bio!
I was studying computing but I am about to do a gap year...And I am honestly very lost at the moment, socially, emotionally etc. Very existential time where I'm wondering
"Who am I?"
"What do I want?"
"What do I truly want?"
Basically, I don't know what the hell I'm doing but I'm told nobody ever knows what the hell they're doing. The big thing that keeps me up at night is if I really want to do a job where I'm just sat at the computer all day, not really impacting and helping peoples lives in a physically tangible way, instead just helping large corporations turn profits constantly. There isn't anything wrong with that but I guess I just worry about it being satisfying. My other idea is to try and get exposed to working in healthcare to see if I'd wanna do a masters in Nursing or GEM (Graduate Entry Medicine).
I'm only 19 but I've somehow changed life plans 3 times. Was convinced I was going to go to Drama school until I was 17, then decided to pursue Computing and now I'm wondering if I should be working in a hospital. Hopefully this all demonstrates me as a person 😭 .
I'd love to meet fellow creative people who also enjoy crafting stories with their original characters. Also people that have similar media in common with me etc. Opened to wide range of age ranges because I feel like it shouldn't matter, as long as people aren't creeps. Bonus points if you are also a former arts/humanities person jumping into STEM lol. So yeah if you read that and liked it, reach out!
