Do any of you have a retro setup for these sites?

Back to Web & Tech

Yesterday; I was thinking about how cool it would be to have some 2000s looking tech to use on these old sites like Friend Rewind and Spacehey. I know a lot of people back when MySpace was still popular would use the site on their old blackberries etc (sadly, I was just a little baby while all of this was going on lol). I feel like it would be so cool to access these sites emulating old ones on older hardware but the only issue is that the modern Web can be a bit hard to access on these older phones due to them not being updated anymore.

I have a PSP 3000 and a PSP GO and I wonder if their old ancient browsers could load up this site, i would be very shocked if they could, maybe thats an experiment i should try lmao.

Of course for other retro setups, you might want to use a crt or an older lcd one.

But yeah do you use these sites differently than how you access different sites/technology?

I had a bit of trouble even loading this site on my iPhone 4s (iOS 6.1.3) and iPad 2 (iOS 9.3.5), but it faired ok on Windows Vista if I remember correctly.

Otherwise, I just use a retro setup regardless.

Windows vista was such a cool operating system, I've never really used it much myself apart from an old laptop my mum had when I was younger. A shame about the old Ios devices, I would have been so cool if it ran a little smoother with friend rewind. Have you always been using a retro setup for your pc ? If I could, I would love to build a pc or one of those cyber decks and load windows 7 onto it because that's my personal favourite windows version. It would be a bit vulnerable in terms of security though.

@Starforce I use Windows 7 everyday without issue.

But yea, if you wanna have a retro setup, go for it

@shell I have a modded version of Windows 10 designed to look and fell like Windows 7, but if you're able to actually run the real deal with no issues, I'm definitely interested in learning about that!

this is the problem for me too, it actually crashes my phone completely when i try to load it... ^_^; it's pretty resource heavy for retro setups  or even modern equipment with small memory (my phone is a 2022 kyocera ky-42c). it made me a bit sad because i was really hoping to use this site while on the train but using it only at home isfine too :ohyeah:

time is running out!

I study CS and I forgot about this 😔 absolute bummer . I've seen some crazy feats done by dumb phone enthusiasts like the discord to J2ME port which was absolute craziness lol. I swear someone ported discord to a psp but my memory might be a bit hazy.

i have a monitor connected to my lovely laptop thats from around 2010. it looks super cool, and it also has a vga port. super cool stuff!

noDisco here. 5 times the value but 3 times the production time! the joys of indie music.

i do have a windows xp computer (pictures are on my profile) but i usually just use these sites on my daily computer.

i could use these sites on there though, thanks to mypal.
