my new computer (hard drive troubles)

Back to Web & Tech

i just finished my business program and while i was there i built a computer, but i think it has a problem with hard drives, as whenever i try to install hard drives, they're always reported as corrupted. i think it's the motherboard.

i have an asrock b550-hdv motherboard, and while building it one of the things we had to do was put in a backup hard drive, yet even then my computer was having problems with the drive and kept reporting it as corrupted, funnily enough it seemed to have been working for everyone else. so, i took the hard drive out.

i had 2 1tb hard drives lying around that i never used, so i installed them, but i kept getting messages about "disk checking" on startup and i have been unable to dual boot other operating systems.

i had the drives lying around unused for a few years, but i don't think it's the drives, i think it's either the motherboard or the sata cables i'm using. i have another computer project i never finished, with another motherboard. however the motherboard is too big for my current case. i do have a case for it but it's been sitting unfinished for years and i'm not sure i'll be able to find all the screws in there. regardless i'm going to try and take the functioning parts out of my current computer (including the drives) and try it with said motherboard.

so, is my line of thinking logical? this computer has never worked right with any hard drives and i really think it's the fault of the motherboard. are these types of motherboards prone to these types of problems? do any of y'all think it could be something else? let me know.
