Ipod clones in 2026

Hello tech friends! 

I am currently in the progress of trying to christmas shop for my boyfriend. He wants to downgrade a lot of his tech which is sooo cool. So he is a HUGE music lover. So I wanted to try and buy him an ipod clone, because holy god they can be quite a pretty penny on ebay, and a lot of the cheaper ones say they may not work, or dont have upgraded storage or whatever. ANYWAYS I was looking to find a clone for a little bit cheaper in price. His favorite ipod was the ipod video 6th gen. So does anyone know of anything similar to this? Or any good clones?

I honestly know nothing about ipod at all. I skipped over all the ipod touches, ipod Nanos and ipod videos and only used mp3 players, until I got my first smart phone out of Highschool.

I would say Innioasis Y2. It is similar to iPod classic. 

If he doesn't mind projects then it's not that difficult to swap out the hdd in an ipod and you can find them rather cheap. The 6th gen is the least desirable due to limitations so should be cheaper. 5.5 gen and 7th gen (which is technically 6th gen but whatever, storage limitations are gone) are harder to come by. Just need a few tools to open an ipod though. You'll just have to search a bit since they became popular again prices have shot up, but there are still cheap ipods out there. As for alternatives, I couldn't tell you. Modern music players don't interest me much since I don't want an android phone without calling or some $10 player from china. 

i know you said that you wanted a clone but if you do want some cheaper ipods, this guy on ebay has some expensive and cheap options from like at least $20-$100 depending on the model, got an IPod 4th Gen from him for like 30-40 bucks!!

This may not apply if he wants an authentic iPod, but my mp3 looks sort of similar to an iPod and has all kinds of features like photo and video storage (I think). Tiny screen, decent built-in speaker, and bluetooth capabilities out of the box.
