I'm curious, tell me about your hero stories. For me, it was when me and my cousin helped a nest of baby birds grow up after they were abandoned, I was 7 years old and found them in my uncle's backyard. One of them unfortunately didn't make it but 3 of them grew into healthy adults!
A few years ago I went to a hotel with my family. The hotel had a big pool and me along with the other hotel residents were playing volleyball in the pool.
Everyone was concentrated on the game. A sudden feeling that I couldn’t really place washed over me and I looked around. My eyes fell on this child who swam a little clumsily, when I looked longer his eyes seemed to bulge, and then it hit me. This child was drowning. I swam away from the crowd playing volleyball, towards him, I never swam so fast in my life.
When I was within arms distance the child immediately clung on me, since he was a little heavy and almost my age he was almost taking me down with him, but my strength to save this kid and save myself was spiking at that moment. I kept my head above the water and tried to lift the kid up so his head would be above water as well, as he knew zero swimming.
With a lot of struggle I finally managed to bring him to the edge of the pool. I asked where his parents were and he said that they weren’t here. I looked at the crowd of people who were still concentrated on the volleyball game and realized no one had noticed this kid drowning, and no one had noticed me saving him either. I told him to stay in the undeep parts of the pool otherwise I wouldn’t save him again and went back to the game.
However I couldn’t really concentrate since I kept checking if the kid was alright. One of the adults noticed my absent-mindedness and scolded me for it. At that moment I was too much in the state of radical acceptance that I didn’t even want to tell them I just saved a drowning child while they were blissfully playing their stupid volleyball game. Thinking back, I wish I did say it and just took my social credit. Hopefully during the day of judgement Allah will put the guy that scolded me in front of me so I can have a proper conversation with him.
