@Orum no I agree too on it being a continuation from dread! All the 2d Metroid games are a continuation of each other but that we continue from it I’m happy because when I finished dread I’m like I hope we get to have the Metroid stealing mechanic and it’s so fun! I’m REALLY EXCITED. I also want to here your theories!

Well I think that the bad guys are a group of bounty hunters sent out to capture the last metroid and put it in captivity. I think the part where samus gets stabbed through the heart in the trailer is what causes her to lose her powers this time and they throw her into containment facility, and the game is pretty much her breaking out. My hope is that the bounty hunters were hired by the federation, kinda implying they the bad guys like in fusion. There is just something poetic of samus being the exterminator of the metroids and ending up not only as one of them, but suffering the same fate as the baby Metroid from super, trapped and experimented on in order to create a better weapon by the federation. Unsure of what will happen with the chozo stuff, maybe the facility is an old chozo site and they put her there because it was the only place technologically advanced enough to possibly hold samus. Would love to hear what you think if you have any theories.

@Orum No I agree that'd be great! Having the federation go after Samus because she's a metroid now would be sick. But wouldn't the federation know they created her? Wouldn't they want to keep her and make HER the most powerful person? They have the only metroid left. People have noticed that in dread there's these ships and after you defeat Ravenbeak they are no longer there. And the ship that attacks Samus looks similar to it!. I was watching a video recently and saw that in the shot where the 5 hunter are in a circle and Samus is falling down it. During that you can see she is in her metroid suit. So she used it as a last defense but failed miserably. Oh something I noticed in the energy tank expansion thing shows in Samus' arm canon(you can see it in the snake scene).

Yea that ship disappearing definitely raises a few eyebrows, but no matter who’s the pilot its safe to assume the x parasite made it on board. Also one of the bounty hunters seems to have an emmi arm, so its possible they were also on ZDR during the events of dread and were the ones to use the ships to escape during its self destruction. God there is just so much to consider and think about, its awesome.

@Orum No really there is a lot! Also the dude with the EMMI arm the arm could be just a prosthetic but… what if yes it was from the ZDR but it’s an EMMI that Ravenbeak created! I think that these hunters could be Ravenbeak henchmen and are tasked on continuing Ravenbeak plan or something along those lines! That’s why we see something that resembles Ravenbeak in the trailer!

Man there is so much they could do just with the story. Plus the gameplay we’ve seen so far looks sick, speed boosting on water was what stood out to me the most, so fucking cool. Plus I think they are really gonna lean into the counter stuff they established in samus returns and dread, probably making use of the Metroid powers and im excited to see what they cook up.

@Fravel No really dread is great! I got introduced to Metroid with Metroid back on the GameCube with Metroid Prime. I've known who Samus was since basically birth. I didn't get into the 2d game until middle school when I got into emulation(I haven't beat any of the old games though 😭). Then I got dread and it's awesome played it a bunch over and over and doing a challenge for myself right now!

@Thinkadile That's dope lmao, I got into it when I was a kid cos my dad used to be a big fan of the series when he was younger and that got me interested. I honestly gotta replay dread and prime at some point but my bum ass switch has been tweaking hard lately </3

@Fravel Oh that’s sick! What was your first game you played? I’m lucky I grew up with the GameCube my parents owned(I’m younger than the GameCube) prime always will have this place in my heart. Do you have like the original switch because if you do it makes sense it’s tweaking.

@Thinkadile The first metroid game I ever played was super metroid, I had to keep replaying the demo on super smash bros cos I couldn't afford it up until I found out that I could just emulate it lmao. And yeah it is the original so it's not a surprise, I'm gonna have to figure out a way to move the games I already own onto my computer
