I wanna make a music player

Back to Web & Tech

Hi, I'm currently an ICT student. I wanna become a developer in the future

The languages I've already learned are HTML, CSS,  JavaScript, C#, and PHP

When I made my profile playlist the way I wanted, I suddenly wanna make my own music player, but the problem is idk how to start. Should I learn a new programming language to make this idea??

What music do you wanna play?

Uh... well it depends what you're trying to do. Are you trying to make a media player online, or as a software? Maybe both? I'm sure there's tutorials online on how to do that juat online, but if you want to make it for online and offline, me personally, I would use Godot. It does have C# support. You should probably get into GDScript too. (Python based.)

@Danimissy No problem! :)

a web-based music player sounds doable! depends on how you want it to work. do you want a premade playlist or let users play their own files? former would probably work with just HTML, CSS and JS, the other may require more server-side stuff that i don't know about.

that's what i think, anyway...

@Mayonaka woah really?? Damn, why Didn't I think of that? I should really explore more in coding, but I saw a tutorial on YouTube using only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I will try that out thanks for the recommendation🔥🔥

@Danimissy i instantly thought of JSRL when you brought this up, might be worth looking through the source for that

If you're going for a desktop-native GUI player, C++ and Qt might sadly be your best option but there are obviously many other stacks out there. PHP, JS, CSS, and HTML are only really applicable to web stuff. I'd also consider leveraging MPD for backend rather than doing the entire actual music player part from the ground up. No clue how well it works with Windows though.
