@Danyaaru aw its okay!! if you could go to any concert ever where would you go?

i work at a few concert venues, does that count? LOL. it's always interesting to see what kind of people show up for each concert. a lot of artists seem to have an unofficial "dress code" where everyone dresses up very similarly, which especially amuses me when it's an artist i don't like. for example, country music concerts attract dudes all dressed very plainly and boringly but the girls are always in heeled boots and minidresses, like it's illegal to wear something that covers their knees or something and the silhouette must be maintained at all costs. lots of cowboy hats too (chicago cowboys????)

as far as going to concerts myself, i am a cheapskate so i've only been to small punk shows in diy venues. i like hardcore and the more drone styled stuff so i mostly lurk in the back headbanging or whatever, i'm not a mosher or anything exciting. i love music, but my taste is more for the kind of stuff that you're supposed to listen to with headphones at home.

@already oh okay i see!! it must be fun working at those concert venues!! was there any memorable experiences? :dizzy:

I've been to a Kendrick Lamar concert in London back in 2018!

1 reply

@hcpd omg!! my friend went to a kendrick lamar concert a few years ago and got crushed in the moshpit (shes okay tho)

@1dk their concerts seem like such a fun experience ;3

I have lost count of the number of concerts I have been to.  I've gotten much more bitter and hateful towards concerts lately though, mainly driving hours to see anything of quality (all the shows I tend to like are 2+ hours away), and often times the people.  The last show I went to was in autumn 2024 to see Verglas in Montréal.  I am not counting invite-only private shows which have been more recent (too cool club).

Upcoming shows - Nothing planned. Would have to go to Europe to be more at home with shows I actually would go to.

@Kommando Mutiliid oh wow!! i didnt know invite only clubs were a thing :3 is it cool? :hellokitty:

@bbohnii

Not actual clubs, just a bunch of friends and associates who put on shows not open to the public.

well the stuff that usually sticks in my mind is all the couples that have horrible drag-out fights in the hallways LOL i'm usually pushing stuff around during the runtime, meaning sometimes i'm the only person in view to see it, so i always go check with the security person to make sure they're aware in case it gets bad. they do sometimes have to be escorted out, but usually it's just both of them being really drunk and waving their phones around but still having a little kernel left in their brain that says that they shouldn't make a scene. the places i work only do really big shows so i find the artists themselves usually pretty boring (i.e. i worked an ed sheeran one, bts, stuff like that)

1 reply

@already oh wowww youve worked at bts concerts!! thats quite cool :3 ive heard that the ppl who work your job are not allowed to face the stage because they cant get a 'free show' is that true?

I went to Ozzfest once. A few rounds of Tool/APC. & a bunch of small bar venue things, those I prefer.

1 reply

@Gengar i dont think this is what you were trying to talk about but id love to go to a jazz bar one day :3

Yes! Back in 2019 I was able to see blink 182, 2020 I believe it was i see green day and weezer. 2023 I saw sum 41. (Could be wrong on that year). And within the last 3 summers I did Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, and this summer Jimmy Eat World. Not one bad concert. Every single one was an easy 10/10.
