i think its a blanket term...i mean anything that isnt "the norm" or "socially acceptable" is considered alternative, emo and decora are both alternative, even though they are basically polar opposites...
what do you think??

blanket term !! i dont really know what alt iTSELF would look like ,., makes my brain hurt trying to figure it out .. but generally stating somebody is alt feels easier to say than saying a 'style' imo?? less putting into a box-y and so it feels less rude?.. is this making any sense to absolutely anybody.. 
yes....it just seems most people consider alt to be like emo, punk, goth or stuff along those lines...like ive never seen someone call fairykei alternative LOLOL

@amazingsavv_ oh no yeah!!! KINDA ANNOYING TOO.... i feel like maybe because hearing the word alternative feels 'harsh' and makes you think of darker styles, but things like lolita are just as alternative as emo!!
