whats yume nikki even about, man

ive been playing this game for a while now and i thought id run into some kind of npc or find a weapon or SOMETHING so i could kill those enemies who keep chasing me down but nope lol. nothing. i have no idea what im even supposed to be doing

idk if anyone here even knows this game but does it have a story behind it because i cant even read anything since its all in japanese D:<

is there... another wsay ur supposed to understand the story? like sonic 3 & knuckles where theres basically no dialogue but u understand whats going on from the levels and what the characters do

You're supposed to explore. That is all. Just look around, take in the scenery like you're in an art gallery. Sometimes you can find effects that can give you abilities, maybe look up an effects guide if you're stuck/unable to find any new places. It's supposed to resonate with you without using a story or dialogue
