Is anyone else here learning a foreign language?

French is my native one and I speak English and Spanish, now I'm learning Portuguese, German and Dutch

I genuinely love these languages and learning about the countries that speak them

twins ! french is my native also but i speak english and polish (alittlebit of russian) <3

I’m a native Spanish speaker and I’m fluent in English, it took me years to get to that level. I’ve been meaning to learn Japanese or Korean, but I just can’t get myself to do it.

I'm a native English speaker, but I am working to learn my people's traditional language, chinuk wawa. Well, strictly speaking,  it's not our *traditional* traditional language, but it is the trade pidgin that developed to be used between tribes as well as trappers. It's... kind of all that's left. True chinuk dialect became a sleeping language quite a while ago.

@Erah Mar omg that's amazing!! I hope you enjoy learning! :D

@garlek10 it's definitely slow going on my own, but I'm enjoying it. I wish my schedule lined up with the online classes, tho.

Languages are so complicated to me!!! I am fluent in English but back then I was well spoken in Arabic because my mother spoke it often, I learned it at my Elementary school but after some personal stuff happened I moved to a school that taught second language French and suddenly forgot most of my Arabic!!!

I can still understand Arabic but writing, speaking and simply reading is struggling, I am still trying to relearn everything SIGH.

I do know a little French and German though :)

@bunnibun7 output is always harder than input :'( I understand the struggle!

I'm natively Dutch but I'm self-taught when it comes to English. I've also had classes in French, German, Spanish and Japanese. But out of those I'd say I only have a decent grip on French and Spanish at the moment.

im trying to learn russian and japanese and spanish. spanish i already know a LITTLE cuz one 1 school, and 2 my dad and yk the internet, russian i barely know cuz im horrible at consistancy and i cant seem to find an effective way to learn it, and japanese i havent even started but i feel like i need to know SOME before my trip to japan. im sooo nervy

@lmnzz99

to me japanese wasn't too difficult to pick up once you understand the basics: hiragana, katakana, sentence structure. focus on the fundamentals and then move on to important vocab words, it's perfectly okay to be nowhere near fluent by the time you're on your trip, just know enough to at least ask where the bathroom is lmao.

my native language is SPANISH. i learned english at the age of 4 and as a result my spanish is not at the native level anymore :(

my mom says i speak with a VERY strong american accent in spanish, but i am WAY better at writing and reading. i got a 5 on the ap spanish lang exam 😁 (which is the best score you can get btw from 1-5).

My native language is English, but I've been trying to learn my tribes native language Yoem Noki/Jiaki Noki

My nana was taught it growing up. However, she never had other people (outside her family) to speak it to growing up, so eventually she lost it + her memory caused her to lose it. Because of that, my mom and I do not know the language :(

However, there's been a big incentive in the Pascua Yaqui community in AZ to teach the language more! Since I dont live in AZ, my resources for learning are a bit limited, but I'm trying nevertheless ^_^

@ko'okoí I hope you enjoy the process and have a great time learning :D It's awesome thing to do ❤️

Native Arabic speaker here but technically English is also a main language cause I grew up around it to the point I had to relearn Arabic a while but currently I’m learning Spanish+french I also want to try learning Korean

+++ everyone learning languages really gives me motivation to keep going.  good luck everyone!!

I'm a native Portuguese speaker and I don't feel comfortable enough to say I'm fluent in English. At the moment, learning LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language) and Mandarin.

I'm a native English speaker but I'm learning how to speak Bengali because I wasn't taught how to speak it alongside English :,)

Replying to @ziv (post is on page 1): “Native arabic speaker, Learned english and now learning Japanese! although I’m slacking a bit due to uni making me so busy, i still try to study every now ...”

@ziv eee I’m also learning Japanese!!!

I'm a native English speaker, but I can't decide which language to learn. There are so many to choose from, but I'm stuck between Russian, French, or Portuguese ^^

I speak English and Spanish (though I need more practice with my Spanish, tbh). I'm trying to learn French and German.
