Any tips for new TF2 players?

Back to Games

I just started playing tf2!!  if you're a pro or you at least play the game, pls drop tips <3

Just have fun tbh.

I have 2,144 hours, my main tip is uninstalling the game

I've been playing TF2 since I was 11. If my experience is anything to go off of, uninstall the game right now.

At first, don't lock yourself into one class. Move around, see what's fun. Learn the basics of everyone, including their class-specific skills: learn basic rocket and sticky jumping, how to use airblasts well, etc. Once you have a good grasp all around the game, pick the class you really like, and start playing them a lot more. You'll just naturally get better over time. Watch videos on how to play them, but one thing I really like is just watching frag compilations and more fun videos on different characters. That makes you think about overall playstyle rather than just the "best" way to do it. If you like jumping around, then do that too. Overall, just have fun with it, try things out, make friends, and have a blast!! Also, find an autoconfig somewhere, you'll thank me later lol

don't heal just one person as medic, your uber builds up quicker if you keep dispensing heals equally.

And never stand still as medic, just because you're behind your allies doesnt mean you're safe, there are always spies around. Also be careful of corners where a sniper could be peeking

Look up how to properly configure the game, cause default settings are abysmal ass cheeks and very confusing to learn as a new player. Soilder a good start to learn the mechanics of just general gameplay feel, don’t worry about dying cause thats just gonna happen when you’re starting, no way around it. After you have a feel for the controls start trying the other classes to see if any really fit for you, they are all very different so you have options. I will say, spy and scout are beginners traps of fun gameplay that will get you killed instantly, so be mindful of them. Also focus on the objective, especially starting out, you don’t have to get kills in order to help your team, being part of a group or capping a point can help your team a lot. Also get familiar with how maps flow, follow the directions and other players and try to understand where you are going and why. After a while of playing check out some YouTube videos of the classes you like in order to get more in depth explanations on their mechanics and tech. Outside of that, keep playing and have a great time.
