Weekly Debate: Slow or Quick?

Back to Sports, Health & Fitness

Imagine that you are an aspiring athlete, would you prefer to "burn bright and short" or would you rather choose to "go slow and steady"?

Why would you make your choice?

What does this mean

@Monroe / Fox if you were an aspiring athlete, would you rather go big and be considered great then retire early because you exhausted yourself early (hence the ‘burn bright’) , or would you rather go slow and gentle on yourself but not receive that much recognition or fame.

Much rather go slow and steady! Gives me time to shine <<<3

A lot of aspiring athletes that burn bright and short, don't make it too long in the long term. Of course there are exceptions but sometimes you're body and brain end up getting overwhelmed with fatigue. Especially if you're the top dog in your area, or region. When you transition to the national stage, it's a learning curve for sure. It might take a bit to adjust, but as you keep going up the pressure continues.

So, I'd much rather go slow and steady as I've done in everything I've competed in. When you focus on self improvement at a slower rate it'll transition to success further on down the road. You give yourself plenty of room to grow and avoid hitting a mental wall. If you love competition enough, or a sport, the results will come. It'll most likely take a few years. Afterall, someone who has spent years training in the background getting their moment in the sun, is a very special thing to watch unfold.
