Before anyone starts accusing me of being an idiotic fan, I never really was a fan of Dream when he was popular and his content was just not for me. And like, whatever. I continued on with my life, like any other person would do.
Where I live, Dream wasn't really a hot topic and I only knew one person who loved watching his SMP videos and that person also played Minecraft, so yeah.
Recently (or not so recently), Dream has been caught of cheating his speedruns and other challenges and while I understand why people are mad about, I don't think keeping on pressing the same issue over and over again will solve anything.
Yes, his fandom was cringe. Yes, his merch was lazy. But none of that is exactly dishonest money.
He entertained people with his videos, took on an hyperbolic title of being really good at Minecraft (tho I can't deny he has good muscle memory and his clutches are good), he made money out of his YT channel and his merch.
Some people said that his early manhunts were not staged and that only later they started becoming staged. Yet it didn't matter. He still have people entertainment and they gave him his fame.
This is the part that isn't dishonest.
Now, about his repeated cheating, I'm still not fully convinced by all of them since people are either smartasses about everything (bc when you're online, you automatically acquire a knowledge about anything that is convenient at that moment), or sometimes they're just jerks to each other. :/
But even with my own opinions and scepticism, I don't think it's okay to keeping on making videos about him and repeating the same shit over and over again while acting morally superior.
It's like a bunch of morons complaining about a slimy guy while actively bathing in his filthy slime.
If you really want him to go away and fall from popularity, then stop talking about Dream.
These people constantly talk about him and his name remains and lingers around the internet.
It's like they're so fixated on this man that they can't let go of him, even when they hate him.
Love me. Hate me. But talk about me.
