I don't want to see anything just saying your favorite movie and then leaving. I'm giving you the chance to yap your butt off about your favorite movie. Please spoil.
My favorite movie is Everything Everywhere All At Once. It's my favorite movie because
- It is really funny
- The visuals are absolutely incredible
- It takes background characters that you would never expect to have a story behind them and gives them a story. For example: the tax lady and racacooni.
- It deals with feelings that I really understand. I grew up with an east coast mother and take things very literally, so when she would say something that was supposed to be a joke to get a point across, I would take it very seriously and be very affected by it, so I kind of relate a bit to what Joy was going through.
- The characters are learning about their own culture without realizing it. Let me explain. They are Chinese, a thing that is a part of Chinese culture is yin and yang. Yin is literally the bagel of "nothing matters", and the googly eye is literally yang "everything matters". I know that isn't accurate representations of what yin and yang is, but it is good representations in regards to the movie.
- I love how, in the end, how they act doesn't really change (as in, their actions, not emotional state), the only thing that really changes is how they see the world. It kind of reminds me of myself when comparing the time when I wasn't interested in philosophy to now where I love to look at philosophy and figure out what I believe.
