Does anyone know Malice Mizer ? Or visual kei bands in general?

MALICE MIZER

Hello! I'm writing this post to find out if anyone here also likes this band. Honestly, this is truly my favorite band of all. I learned about them at the end of 2024 and was too impressed. It's hard for me to even express in words how much I love their songs.

My first song was Gekka no Yasoukyoku and it's still my most favorite. This song sounds too perfect.

Some questions for you if you want to share your experience in the comments:

  • Which era do you like the most?
  • What is your favorite song?
  • What was the first song you heard from them?
  • When did you first meet this group?

Any recommendations?

I also found out about Moi Dix Mois probably in 2025. I like their work too, but I'm still exploring it.

And I know Versailles from visual kei. However, can anyone recommend other visual kei bands? I want something new and exciting.

Thank you for your attention!

Hey there! I also first discovered Malice Mizer in 2024 and Gekka no Yasoukyoku was the first song of theirs that I heard, too. Instagram was just randomly suggesting videos of them to me one day, and that's how I learned of their existence. I already knew about Gackt for a few years prior, and at that time I was currently playing through FFVII: Rebirth since it just released that year (if you didn't know already, Gackt voiced a character on one of the FFVII spinoff games); so yeah, I'm assuming both of those things is why Instagram was suggesting videos of them to me. haha 😆

Gekka no Yasoukyoku and Ma Chérie are my favorite songs of theirs. 💕

The Gackt era is my favorite, but I don't remember if I ever actually listened to any songs from their other eras... 😅 (I probably should sometime)

@🌺Bubblepopspit🌺 It's nice to see someone here who also knows Malice Mizer! And it's funny, I didn't know this fact about Gackt. It's really interesting, and I need to check this out later and learn more about the game. Thanks for sharing!

Regarding the eras, I also like the Gackt era more because literally all the songs from that era impress me and evoke a lot of emotion. But the other eras are also very unique and good! For example, many people underestimate Tetsu, although I really like some of his songs.

I hope you'll try other songs someday. Thank you so much for your reply. 🖤

HI HI!!! i actually love vkei and its whole movement, especially malice mizer!!! top 5 fave vkei bands fr:P i discovered them back in like,,, 2023 when i was scrolling on youtube. the first song i ever heard was ma cherie!!! and i think it was a great introduction t the band as its a song carried throughout all three eras :) literally cant choose a fave era mostly because i think they all represent different emotions, but my fave song "Seraph" is from the tetsu era :D i have a bunch of their cds amd i think theyre such an important band to the movement :0

@Archer_stink:P Aww, thank you so much for sharing your experience! You've known this band even longer than I have, haha. "Ma Cherie" is probably one of the most popular, a lot of people like it... It's truly beautiful, ngl.

And "Seraph" by Tetsu is also so magnificent... Probably my most favorite from his era after "Baroque"I remember this song caused me a lot of emotions. 😭❤

If you know other good visual kei bands, I'd be grateful if you'd share them. I'm just looking for something new to hear. (≧∇≦)ノ

@ৎ୭⋆˚࿔ 𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 ⋆。 ゚☁︎ ofc!!! if youve been liking a lot of malice mizers stuff id strongly reccomend lacroix despheres, tad underrated but still amazing! and then i would also look into versailles, and kamijos solo career aswell :)

@Archer_stink:P I know Versailles, but I haven't heard all the songs, still exploring. And I remember Kamijo & Malise Mizer performing! I almost shed a tear haha. That was wonderful.

And thank you so much for the recommendations, I'll check it out! :>

hi!!! god, i love malice mizer, although for me they're more of a fashion inspiration since i am also huuuge in egl && gothic lolita specifically. my favorite songs are mayonaka ni kawashita yakusoku && gardenia. i think i prefer gackt era, even though it's hard to pick, really, all of them are very different and unique. i just love his vocals, no matter how shallow it sounds!

@arcanefreak It's rare to see someone have favorite songs from the Klaha era! Although I agree that his era is also so good and powerful in sound. I really love his songs too. :}

It seems like the Gackt era has captured a lot of people's hearts, haha. I can't blame anyone, though. He won my heart too. xD But yes, each era is unique in its own way. They express themselves in completely different ways. I agree with you.

Thank you so much for sharing! 🖤 It's great to see this group inspiring you in terms of fashion! 👀✨

@ৎ୭⋆˚࿔ 𝐑𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 ⋆。 ゚☁︎  klaha era is wonderful when it comes to working with baroque inspirations && is closer to goth music in general, so i kind of gravitate to it, but as a vocalist i just prefer gackt more. oh well! just shows how many sides there are to such an influential group, mm is truly one of a kind.

Hi! I discovered Malice Mizer in 2023 with Gekka no Yasoukyoku too, but now my favourite songs might be Seinaru Toki Eien no Inori, Gensou Rakuen, Miwaku no ROMA and Shi no Butou. I don't really know what my favourite era is since they're pretty different, but I might enjoy Klaha's era more because of Bara no Seidou, my favourite album, and also Beast of Blood and Baptism of Blood are really good songs that make me like Klaha slightly more.

@Cernunnos Haha, another one who appreciates Klaha's art. Niiiceee. 👀✨ I can see that your favorite songs come from three different eras, and it's understandable; each era has its own unique, catchy songs. It's hard for me to choose sometimes too.

"Beast of Blood" is truly so good, probably my most favorite song from Klaha era, so agree with you here.

Thank you for sharing your experience and opinion! 🖤 I'm glad you enjoy this wonderful band too. :}
