My personal biggest pet peeve is when someone says that an album/song/artist is genuinely bad just because they don't like it. Like u can have ur opinions but to say something is straight up bad when its clearly otherwise is irritating </3 Objectivity is a rarity fr.

My music pet peeve is when someone pretends the artist isn't a bad person or excuses their allegations so they could continue listening to their music without feeling guilty. Like I get the whole "separate the art from the artist" and the whole frustration you could feel if you were a person who bought a lot of merch from them but full on defending them or pretending like everything was just made up is just wrong and annoying.

I see this so often in fandoms (esp fall out boy cus thats the one i'm in the most...) and ppl always try to excuse the actions of their fav just because they like them. like you can like an artist and still acknowledge the bad stuff they've done idk why ppl act like its either one or the other. Pretending like whatever they did didn't happen and trying to discredit whatever whoever was affected by it is saying is really gross.

i think my biggest pet peeve generally is people caring SO much what someone else is listening to, artist wise genre wise etc.. or just caring so bad how their music taste looks to other people as well. Like just listen to your damn music and enjoy it😭😭😭
I also really hate all the moral elitism.. like who’s more problematic than who. A lot of people don’t really get how problematic the music industry is as a whole, along with the fact no matter what music you’re streaming you’re still paying someone horrible. Even bands like ptv and such, even if mike has left the band you’re still paying him BUTTLOADS with your streams because he’s credited. Not to mention problematic producers and contributors etc, you’re STILL supporting someone horrible out there. Not to say that their actions don’t matter, but it’s generally unavoidable and really parasocial to think your artist is “safe”. Just hold people accountable and move on. Personally i dont really care what other artist people support, but i DO care if they defend their actions. mainly artists like Melanie Martinez.. like listen to her all ya want but you BETTER not say she’s innocent 😭😭

The music industry is so deeply flawed and its entire baseline is rooted in terrible things, its super shitty but thats how it is. People thinking they have the moral high ground over someone else because their fav is "less problematic" is so stupid. Just acknowledge the bad, believe victims, and listen to ur music.

when lyrics bring bad things into your life. I'm big on affirmations, so if I listen to a song that has REALLY questionable lyrics, sometimes I can't even bring myself to listen to the song. Especially when I listen to "my man, my man, my man" music. Like no, I am not going to cater to a man. Or songs talk about dying or anything, No Thank You!
Personally i hate when a song is too... clean. If that makes sense? I think that's why i mainly like older music and rarely new music because even SOME new metal/punk sounds too clean and it drives me wild!!

As someone who listens mostly to older music (and by older I mean OLD, stuff from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s especially), a pet peeve of mine is people who act like there’s no such thing as good modern music. Yeah, there’s a lot of modern music I don’t like, but there are some bangers out there.

@steven agreed! I also prefer older music (tho more 2000's and 90's) but i think whenever someone says theres "no good modern music" they're just not looking hard enough.

1. When people think you're a poser for loving the band's popular songs. I understand that there could be more or maybe even better gems in the album, but the songs are popular for a reason... they're GOOD. And i think they should be loved they way the band intended it to be.
2. "Ohhh my favorite songs are getting tiktokfied" or something like that. Yeah yeah tiktok has a bad community and overall shitty rep but honestly I'm just happy that the band is getting more recognition, since most bands back then (and indie bands now) often break apart because they don't have enough of an audience for them to keep playing. Panchiko and Her Words Kill for example. They're pretty lucky compared to the billion possibilities of masterpieces out there in the world that have never surfaced lol.
3. This might be a little bit of a stretch but when people hate on the "Electric Feel Incident Guy" (if you know who I mean). Sure he looks a little silly but honestly, he's way more entertaining than the bands who can play beautiful notes and sing like an angel but stand as still as a rock in a PERFORMANCE. You're supposed to engage with the audience than sit in your little corner, and if engaging gets you to move around much and feel the music, then hell yeah! This can't apply to orchestra performances I guess lol but you know whay I mean.
As for an actual music pet peeve, I personally don't like it when there's like, more than two guitar solos in one song because for me, that's kind of pushing it. Unless you're like Steve Vai or some guitar god then do whatever the hell you want, man.
I hate how a bunch of pop songs these days don't have intros or bridges so that they're shorter and easier to promote on tiktok :(
Also when a rock/punk/metal song sounds way too clean
I absolutely hate when people hate on popular bands just because they're popular. Like, it being "niche" does not matter if it sounds like garbage!!! Let me listen to music in peace!!!
